Personally i think that if done by the right people and done correctly, an Elder Scrolls like game of the Drizzt series would be awesome.

They should make a game set in the Twilight universe and let you play as a vampire hunter... Id play the shit out of that.
Thank you for using the only appropriate use of that garbage of a book.

Watership Down is a good good one. Controlling a bunny for some reason hasn't been done yet... As for the novel I think should be made into a game... Age of Innocence. Bwahahaha just kidding. Edith Wharton sucks.

A game set in the Discworld universe by Terry Pratchett or ...
I remember pitching a game on a similar thread a couple months ago. A Discworld MMO wherein you chose who you want to be, where you want to be from, what you want to do. Thieve's Guild, Assassin's Guild, Musician's Guild, Unseen University, simple life up in the Ramtops, simpler life down on the Djel or maybe you just want to do some PVP in the Mended Drum. Just remember to keep your coin purse tightly sealed around C.M.O.T. Dibbler. Maybe The Shades would serve as a larger PVP arena...

As for something different...I am tempted to mention the Darth Bane trilogy but I fear what it would become.
That sounds quite awesome. My idea was more of a Monkey Island, meets Fable, meets Trine based around Rincewind and some of his companions.

I would also hesitantly agree with the Darth Bane idea though I certainly fear what Lucas would do with it.
Well LucasArts made Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, a Jango Fett game. And that was actually pretty damn cool. While Lucas may be a cockmouth, LucasArts has been a pretty decent game company (depending on your view of Force Unleashed, I guess.)
Not to stray off topic but I actually thought that the Force Unleashed games were horrendous.

The Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton. That would be fucking epic. Just a sandbox game which allowed you do whatever. Build up a vampire kiss / werewolf pack / zombie empire and go to town on the world.

A free roaming spaceship game based in the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy universe. And when you get rich enough, you can buy custom made planets. That would be awesome. Also, you can purchase an improbability drive as an add-on for your ship.
A game where men are real men, women are real women, and small furry creatures from alpha centauri are real small furry creatures from alpha centauri. I can get on board with that.

They should make "Surely you're joking Mr. Feynman" into a game. Show people what a game based around a properly badass theoretical physicist is like. Accept no mute, crowbar wielding imitations!

All boss fights to be done in the presence of Bella. CRY, *****! CRY! /jk

OT: I'd really like to see one set in the Midkemia universe by Raymond E Feist, but it's a case of too much to choose from.

...
Has been done, right? A series of pretty bad games, as I've understood, but games nonetheless.

None.

I hate to be that guy, but I doubt novels would translate into video games well at all.

A game set in the Discworld universe by Terry Pratchett or the Xanth universe by Piers Anthony would be awesome in my opinion. Both are quite expansive worlds with plenty of opportunities for interesting gameplay. The satirical nature of either series would lend it's self well to a Fable like game.
alredy been done

I know right. I have been kicking around an idea in my head for a while of playing a game as some "cute" animal. I mostly have been thinking kitten, but then for whatever reason, watership down struck me.

The Monster Blood Tattoo Series, a great setting. Wouldn't even need to follow the actual story. Just dump the player character somewhere in the world and embark on adventure! Monter Hunter style!

World War Z. You pick from one of several scenarios inspired by the book like: Downed military piolet that has to treck across the wilderness, kid running to a port in a 3rd world country, civilian trying to get out of a dead infested city.

Each senario pits you with different weapons and skills (military has a gun, kid can move faster and climb) and all it takes is one bite and your fucked.
