Crash team racing - the PS1 bonanza which still means on any karting game (mainly mario Kart) i jump off EVERTHING to get a "hangtime Boost".
CTR is brilliant, we've got that in my school common room, we bought it and the Play Station for £10.

Goldeneye, the N64 Zeldas and (this surprised me the most) Body Harvest for the N64. Pokemon still has a place in my heart too, as does the origional Final Fantasy Tactics.
Agreed. In my opinion, it's still the best turn-based strategy game out there. Great story and I think the class system is much better than any other. I plan on buying a PSP just so I can get War of the Lions.

To the OP, I'd say any of the old platformer games, especially ones like Super Metroid and Castlevania: SOTN. For two reasons: A.) They are incredible games and 2.) They don't really make them anymore, at least like they used to. Sometimes I get sick of 3D.

The Spyro the Dragon games on PSone still hold up strong. I've played number 3 more this week than anything on my 360,.

Half-Life 2, and any game using the Source engine, they are pretty old, yet still fun.

funny this should come up, i recently started replaying all my old ps2 games as i got bored with xbox 360 and my live account ran up. The Jak and Daxter and Ratchet and Clank series are both superb, my 2 favorite series ever

Threads of Fate is still one of my favorite PS1 games. The story is still entertaining even though I know it by heart, and the game play is actually fun rather than controller-stompingly frustrating.

Ultima VII and Ultima Underworld:
WAY ahead of their time. Some of the best RPGs ever. Give you that "living, breathing world" feeling. Play with DosBox.

X-Com, Terror from the Deep:
The creepy pinnacle of turn based squad strategy. I prefer "Terror from the Deep" to "X-Com UFO Defense", because TFTD is creepier and has a more threatening, serious tone to it, whereas the UFO Defense atmosphere is too cheesy for my taste. Play with DosBox.

Star Control 2:
Unique space adventure with real time ship combat. Amazing game, great story. Play the remake for modern operating systems: "SC2: The Ur Quan Masters".

Alpha Centauri:
One of the most polished and insightful civ-games ever. Like most early civ games it suffers from poor AI, but the background research that went into this game and the setting are awesome. Usually runs on Windows without problems.

Indiana Jones and the fate of Atlantis:
IMHO one of the best Lucas Arts adventure games. Play with DosBox.

X-Wing and TIE Fighter:
The graphics have aged, especially with X-Wing, but the thrilling gameplay of two of the best space combat sims ever is still there. Play with DosBox.

Doom:
I would almost consider it a sin for any gamer not to have played the original Doom. Play with DosBox for the original feel, or use one of the numerous remakes for better graphics & usability.

Colonization and Master of Magic:
To me, the outdated graphics add to the charm of these fun and thoughtful civ-spinoffs. Run with DosBox.

(the original) Street Fighter II:
Still one of the greatest beat-em-ups. It just "feels" right. Play with a SNES emulator.

These are some of my favorite games of the past, that I still fire up every once in a while.
