STALKER SoC
In any of the undeground bunkers. Rifle in hand and 200 rounds. Then hearing the breathing of a bloodsucker in the wavering light and realising (I kid you not) 200 rounds ain't gonna cut it for this place. Cue seriously chaotic firing to save life.
This litterally always freaked me out till about my 5th play through. Bloodsuckers anywhere (but particularly in dark places) are seriously scray and you always end up firing wildly cause they move so fast and disappear a second or so after attacking.

Love that game. I am a proper fan boy XD

Some parts of the STALKER series are seriously freaky. It mixes the horror well between psychological buildup and jump-up-and-startle moments, meaning that when there's scary music playing you're actualyl scared of a sudden jump instead of just thinking 'yeah yeah, scary stuff but I just quicksaved'.

Even excluding the (largly) scripted lab sections, there's been a few occasions above ground where I've been wandering through a swamp of forrest at night (REALLY stupid idea in that game, by the way) and heard a noise, looking around me with my flashlight barely illuminating anything and hoping it was just part of the soundtrack. Then after seeing nothing I start moving again only to hear a familier growl behind me as a Bloodsucker (think vampire with tenticles, freaky things) de-cloaks and pounces me.

I found the underground ones were the worst. Knowing there was a bloodsucker there and actually trying to not get caugth by it made it even worse. Also until CoP, I never used shotguns much. 400+ round every time I went down in those places with a GP47 and a few frag grenades was a must.

That moment is Amnesia where you play the game.
10 points man. I really should give it a go at some point but games that are ment to be scary don't really tickle my fancy.

The entire game(well, the part I've played) of Doom III.
Got the game when it was just new. I didn't know anything about FPS horror games, hell I pretty much just started playing games activly overall(Counter-Strike!).

Anyways... You'd know that something would come at you EVERY damn time you opened a door, but every time I got scared shitless. Could only play for 5-10 minutes before I had to shut the game off. I'd probably not be that bothered these days, but I still don't dare to try it out.

My first play through of Bioshock. There's a spot near the beginning in a dentists surgery where fog fills the room and suddenly there's a splicer behind you. It was late at night and really tired and normally when a room fills with fog or smoke or what-have-you I'd completely expect someone seeing someone appear behind you, but I just didn't think and all of a sudden I was damn near pissing myself.

Silent Hill classic that i played when i was a kid. Some of the horror is mockery of children tales, and the final boss in the Good ending was just a fucking nightmare to me when i was trying to wrestle with the control scheme, having problems focusing with the creepy screeching music in the background, and literally only won because the game automatically kills the final boss if you survive for so long with no ammo.

I didn't do the same with Silent Hill 2 since i was a teenager when i played that and mostly desensitized, but it still did scare me since i kept hearing creepy noise and was trying to find the monster to beat it to death, but couldn't find anything. Good atmosphere is what it takes to scare me. Mind you i didn't shit my pants, after a bad experience with watching The Lost Boys i always went to the bathroom before starting up a horror game or movie. Now that games no longer go for atmospheric horror and simple grotesque monstrosities, games just don't scare me anymore. Amnesia is still a PC exclusive and my laptop can't run games, and Dead Space only goes for jump out horrors with grotesque monsters. I actually laughed a lot of the time when playing Dead Space.

Just an hour ago.
Picture this. The game is command and conquer 3.
A skirmish match. 4 vs 4 team battle, all brutal computer.
Using the scrin. Filling the perimeter with lightning towers, leaving the other com teammates to handle attacking. A defense which was impenetrable to all attacks thus far. Just charging up the Rift generator.

Or so I thought.
Suddenly I hear that an ally has fallen. then another. Then another. So I check on them and what do I see but a MASSIVE attack force of four armies. By now they are picking out the last of my allies and my rift generator has 1 minute before deployment. And despite my "impenetrable" defense, I was counting on the Ai Allies to have my back so I skimped on defenses around a certain chock point.

My laptop slowing to a crawl as I scramble to order my men to guard the choke point, meanwhile the Ai has the idea to use artillery to take punch a hole in my main defense away from outside their range while I'm distracted. My harvesters taken out (glitches made it so my army became particularly thick to listening to orders to retreat),low on cash and what follows was a thrilling hold the line sequence as I try to hold back the ensueing horde.

Eventually, my men were cut down but the rift requires another 10 more seconds. Slowdown was massive. The enemy were pouring into a freshly made hole in my defense.
9..8..7..6..5(By this point I am close to wetting myself)...3......2.....Holy shi-

1

They were too tightly packed, they were sitting ducks. one rift. The army being reduced to cinders.I sent the rest of my men to take out the artillery.

And Yahtzee said there was no feeling of accomplishment in RTS's. I respectfully disagree.Damn.

Then I was wiped out by a mammoth and tripod raid :p

1. Amnesia: The dark descent

but the non-obvious

2. Nearly shat myself when a zombie managed to sneak behind me in left 4 dead. It's pretty unsettling to turn around and have a disfigured, gory face taking up 4/5ths of your screen.

The first time I saw a bloodsucker in SoC. Definitely, shit my pants moment.

Not a scary moment, but one time I actually lured the guys at the military base to go into the sewers. Lured them right into the bloodsuckers nest and it wiped them all out.
