What PC games would you recommend to a console gamer?

My Xbox recently got the 3-RRODs and my Wii has lost all sense of being fun, so I've decided to buy a gaming laptop (bit too out-and-about all the time for a desktop) and return to the realm of PC gaming. Just so you know, I've set my eyes on an ASUS G71V since it seems to have enough power to deal with up-coming games.

Other than Crysis and the Orange Box, are there any other PC games I've missed since 2003?

P.S. had the Orange box on Xbox, but still love it enough to buy it again.

P.P.S. also getting B&W 2 because I like it.

Edit: noticed some people were asking about the spec. I'm aiming for the 7T121G model, which includes the quad-core/ Vista Ultimate/ WUXGA combo. Costs about £1600 inc. VAT

I'd reccomend Prey if you didn't play it for 360, also the good RTS's like Starcraft, Warcraft 3, and try some Command and Conquer games. Then, of course, the original Half Life and the expansions/mods for it.

Other than that, just check around, there are plenty of good ones out there.

EDIT:

Doom 3 is pretty good. Total War series is excellent if you like strategy games.

It's pretty, but it's hardly much fun.

Black and White II was good stuff, though.
Neverwinter Nights 2 wasn't bad.

KotOR I and II (more one, though,) are both excellent.
Everything they said.

Sandbox what came with it was more fun than the game itself.

RTS games, you don't have them on Xbox.
Settlers 6, Red Alert 3 and so on.

I just got back into PC gaming too, now that I have a PC I can actually play the new stuff on. You can't go wrong with the Total War series. I have every one exept Empire, I'm going to wait a few months for them to patch it. Personally I liked Black and White 1 better than 2.

Onyx Oblivion

Borderlands Addict. Again.

You need moar Elder Scrolls. Morrowind or Oblivion. Both have amazingly creative mod communities.

Starcraft is probably my favourite PC game ever, that and Counter Strike and Diablo 2. Perhaps not the most approachable games ever though. Diablo 2 I would suggest -> also Left 4 Dead.

EDIT: Oh, and don't listen to whoever recommended Doom 3. It's just awful.

Assuming you havent arleady beaten these on 360 (of the ones which are cross platform).

Call of Duty 4, Left 4 Dead, World in Conflict (if you like RTS), Hitman: Blood Money, Unreal II (2), F.E.A.R., Bioshock, Mass Effect, Civilization IV, Galactic Civilizations II, Sins of a Solar Empire, Fallout 3, Battlefield 2, GTR Evolution, Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War II, Freedom Force vs. the Third Reich, Doom 3, Sam & Max episodes, City of Heroes

The extent to which i disagree is immeasurable. Crysis is awesome. I would recc getting Crysis Maximum Edition as it has all 3 games.

I'd say most RTSs, seeing as how there are a grand total of 3 console RTSs that I consider good(Pikmen 1 and 2, and EndWar). so try out Warcraft 3, the total war series, and the civilization series, all consistently good game series.

What he said, but be warned: the graphics are going to look like 1st gen XBox.

Thief: Deadly Shadows, Deus Ex:Invisible War (more so the first one tho).
