OT: I would say useful little items I might want to bring are books of some kind. Or at least a book. human society is collapsing. It'd be nice to have something to remember it by in case we do survive. Aside from that... maybe a backpack to carry shit in. I play Left 4 Dead and wonder where they store all their shit like ammo or how they even strap the guns to themselves when there is clearly no visible thing holding that shotgun to Nick's back. Storage would be a nice thing to think about.

Well I have quick access to a falconer's glove or two (or gardening ones, which are a little less durable but a little more flexible). I wear a belt on account of loose fitting jeans. I think I have a chainsaw in my garage but failing that a lot of longish metal implements.

I think I'd be fine apart from my lack of a Swiss Army Spork.

Even if zombies showed up one day. They would not stand a chance in hell. By now everyone knows what a zombie does and how to kill them but even if they did not it still would not happen.

Random dude starts eating other people, first thing everyone else is gonna do is shoot the fucker. If he does not drop they will shoot him in the face. Then when the second person gets up and imitating his behaviour they would shoot him in the head too.
Zombie threat wiped out.

But, what if it's like '28 Days Later' or 'I am Legend' where the zombies are actually fast, strong, and vicious? Personally, I agree with you on your point, but, what if we have zombies all wrong?

Or if the disease is airbourne, and 80 percent of the world is infected quickly?

Anyway, a way to filter water. A compass. Walkie talkies (for group mates).

Really, because (in the nicest possible way) you didn't answer my question you just listed weapons and gear, not the little things you think people would forget.

Lets assume virus, bite standard transmission, slow generally but can lunge quickly when close and early zombies are much faster (no fractures, torn ligaments etc).

I know exactly what you mean, my rifle didn't have a sling for about two months (it lacked proper swing swivels and I had to order them in), I went hunting several times before I got it, and the difference without a sling is considerable. Guns are so heavy and awkward without them.
