It's funny how some people call a game universally praised by both critics and players overrated. I know it's a matter of opinion after all, but the use of the word "overrated" sounds... wrong. For instance, I don't like fighting or sport games but I still recognize some of them as good, even though I wouldn't play.

OT, Call of Duty, from CoD 2 to Black Ops. It's too average. Its singleplayer tries to be good, but fails in comparison to true awesome FPSs like Half-Life and BioShock. The same thing happens with the multiplayer: it fails as a mindless shooter(Counter Strike: Source is better) and as a tactical one(Battlefield utterly destroys CoD on this aspect).

Hmmm, well I loved Morrowind, but hated Oblivion (there is only so many times I can talk to the same 5 people over and over again and pretend they are all different).
I liked DA:O, am kinda meh on DA2 though.
Like Mass Effect (both), prefer the WW2 CoD games to the modern ones.
Have not liked ANY FF games since IX (and I have fond memories of Mystic Quest as someone mention it earlier).
Like Halos 1 and 3, didn't really like 2.
Dislike most fighting games (prefer playing WITH my friends not against them).
Always found Diablo 1 & 2 to be good time killers, but couldn't get into WoW.
...oh and never had an urge to try any HL or Fallout.

since i havent realyl ivnestigated much, you would have to decide on thier popularity, but heres the most generic list:
world of warcraft
counter strike
halo
call of duty
portal
gta 4, though that may not be "popular" as apperently a lot of peopel hated it too
far cry 2 (seriuosly?)
mirrors edge 2 (well it made enough to put a sequel, so its popular)

ALso i mentioned a lot of say fallout 3 was hard, well i found it way too easy. by the level 7 i had more money, health and weapons than i woudl need in entire game, and i searched the WHOLE MAP for stuff to do, twice (and all DLC too) how can somone run out of stimpacks in there is beyond me.

Fallout 3. I loved Elder Scrolls IV so I figured I'd like another Bethesda game with similar mechanics. However, the setting, combat, and buggyness of the game kind of turned me off. I did manage to go through the main story line but soon after lost interest in doing anything else.

Devil May Cry and Bayonetta. I thought the writing was crap and the gameplay was generic. That, and any game that promotes that sort of treatment to a classic Sinatra tune can have its choice of which side of my tuckus to plant its lips on first.

Halo series. I didn't HATE them...I just didn't think they were that great. I just didn't think they were as revolutionary as everyone made them out to be. It didn't really do anything that Goldeneye didn't do better, I didn't think.

Borderlands. I shouldn't have to do multiplayer to have a game be fun. I played it by myself, offline, and thought it was boring as hell.

Demon's Souls. Difficulty shouldn't be a game's soul selling point. When it comes to Demon's Souls, the graphics aren't the best on the market, the gameplay isn't the best on the market, the story isn't the best on the market, but it's just friggin hard. I don't care how rewarding a game is, if it's going to make me want to throw my controller through the TV screen on a regular basis, it's not for me.

I'm sure there are more, but those are the only ones that leap to mind at the moment.

Final Fantasy. I just loathe that fucking series. By today's standards the old ones are mediocre, but the new ones just suck. Especially Final Fantasy X... that was the worst game i ever played on my PS2. I also hated Kingdom Hearts, partly because i hated the characters but with later installments i just think the titles get progressively more and more idiotic.
Oh, but the worst is Halo 3. I liked Halo: Reach a little and the first one i had some fun with back when i didn't know how much potential the FPS, but Halo 3 just sucked. The enemies were retarded and Master Chief has always been a stupid character. Sorry Chief, you get to take the backseat to me looking for collectibles because frankly your holographic stripper can die for all i care, and i'm still pissed off that i can't play as the Arbiter anymore. Fuck Master Chief, i want to see a Halo game based on "The Duel" from Halo: Legends. Let me play as the aliens again!
