Alcohol removes your inhibitions.
That is to say, while under the influence, you are the most you you can be.
In other words: People are stupid by nature, alcohol just lets them act that way without fear of being judged.
Does this explain how I am somehow in the Army when drunk? But seriously, it is fun to tell new people whatever you want.
You obviously have homicidal tendencies resulting from an Oepidal complex.

It is, but I've always had trouble lying over the internet, for some reason.
No idea why. I lie like...something that lies a lot in my normal life.
Can I go out on a limb and say... "Full Metal Jacket?"

Anyways, to sum it up, it has to do with the alcohol. It inhibits judgement, so the more alcohol, the more inhibited judgement. See?

Quick fact: Alcohol afects directly in the brain by slowing down the conection between neurones. If you payed atention in biology classes you know that neurons are all separate cells that dont touch each other and the gaps between the neurons is filled with a solution that allows the eletricity to move through it, alcohol afects the solution so its harder for eletricity to go through it, slowing down the speed of thought

obvious statement but TOTALLY true

Wow, that was a popular post. Just so you know zombiepandaman I wasn't condemning alcohol, just stating that their behavior was influenced by it.

Drinking in a setting such as a bar, one could say, turns everything into sort of a competition. Who can be the loudest, drink the most, be the most fun, and all that. Also, you see people around you acting off, you're gonna be influenced to do it too, because people always have a tendency to mimic others in large gatherings.

This makes most sense so far. Knew the first paragraph, hadn't really considered the second, now I'm learning something.

To all the people giving the smart-ass-captain-obvious answers, you make me smile.
Psychologists have done experiments where they put a group of people in a social situation where alcohol would be consumed (such as a bar) and then give them nothing but alcohol-free drinks and they STILL act like they're getting drunk (ie talking louder, slurred speech, freedom of inhibitions, moving closer and becoming more interested in the opposite sex etc).

This simply happens because their brain thinks that's how they're supposed to act in that situation, regardless of whether or nor alcohol has been consumed. It's actually quite an interesting area of psychology.

EDIT: I forgot earlier, they can also wake up with headaches as if they're hungover from such an experiment. The subconscious mind really plays quite a large part in determining behaviour and how the body responds to certain situations.
IF they didn't know whether the drinks were alcohalic they could be accounted to the placebo effect I think.
