I'm getting a PS3 for my birthday coming up, so I was wondering what games I should get for it. I'm already going to get Little Big Planet and GOW3. So what does the escapist think I should get for my new PS3. Oh, I heard MAG, a game I would love to play, has alot of lag issues is the true?

What games do you like to play?

For FPS games I recommend the Resistance games, Killzone 2, and MAG. And MAG does not have much lag, it has just as much as any other game.

For Adventure games I say go with Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted, God of War 3, and Infamous.

For racing there's GT5 Prolouge. If your into cart racers there's Modnation Racers. Moterstorm Pacific Rift is good if you like off-road racers.

If you want a challenge go with Demon's Souls.

I'm going to guess you like them actioney games?

I'd recommend Fallout 3 GOTY.
I'm into any sort of game but the sort of games I really like are the ones that let me have editing tools like lil' big planet and mod nation racers and ones that let me play with a lot of my friends. Also, I already have Fallout 3 and all of the DLC on my 360.

Get transformers War for Cybertron on June 22. Because on June 22, transformers war for cybertron is coming out, and I'm anxiously waiting to pick up my copy of transformers war for cybertron on june 22 and I need someone to play with.

Metal Gear Solid 4, Uncharted 1&2. I can't faithfully recommend Fallout 3 because of how boring it gets and how easy it is.

Infamous was fun, the second is coming out soon.

Btw do you have friends come over regularly? Cause Blur might be a good thing to pick up. Also if you end up liking LBP, Modnation might be worth a look.

Demon's Souls is fantastic if you can keep a level head and don't have to be the untouchable embodiment of death just to have fun. Metal Gear Solid 4 is a pretty good game. Don't know if you are familiar with the series at all (you can download a free compendium of series info if you like) but it has a number of very neat and fun scenarios and a gameplay style that can be very different from your usual 3rd person shooter if you choose to explore it. Resonance of Fate is a pretty fun (read: not carbon copy of other games) game but has a bit of a learning curve to get into it. Other than these, I'd definitely second the other posts' recommendations! Have a great time with your new box!

Metal Gear Solid 4 and Killzone 2

Killzone 2 is very short though, maybe six hours to finish the campaign on normal.

I would recommend Disgaea 3, but it's not a game for everybody, find some gameplay videos.(it's probably the most hardcore game this generation, ignoring the Disgaea ports on the handhelds)

Uncharted 1/2, Killzone 2, MGS4 if you've played 1-3.

As for MAG, there really aren't any lag issues, but rent it first to see if you like it.

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone.

Here's another question for all the people who have the 360 also, how do the communities compare to each other? We've all heard the steryotype of the raging 360 user, but is there any real problems with the PSN community?

I'd suggest, Uncharted 2, killzone 2 (if the player base has held up, then online as well), Infamous, God of War 3, valkyria Chornicles, Metal gear solid 4.

Lag on MAG is a rarity but if it happens it's gonna be at the start of a round at which point you or your group should choose fight or flee though it can be consider helpful to defenders on the map.

It can be just as bad as the 360 but chances of running into one/group of them is far lower.

I pre-ordered (getting Jazz) it for the PS3 already, Thinking I'll start on the Decepticon side sense they're missions are before the Autobot's but I'm up for what ever.

People on the PSN don't talk much. Whenever I'm on everyone seems to just play the game and keep to themselves. Not really a problem, but something to know.

This is only my personal experience, so take it with a grain of salt, but:

I own both an Xbox 360 and PS3 and engage in online games with both.

Whereas my experience with the XBox Live community has ranged from "yelling angry Texan kid" to "racial slur guy who sounds like his tongue is hanging out," I've also had encounters ranging from the "You're new to this game? Okay, here - lemme show you some useful things on the map" to "We kicked ass together! Wanna jump into our team for the next round?" You get the full spectrum with XBL.

My experience with PSN has been pretty consistent - people who tend to take the game seriously (not the raging kind, but the sort of person who is pretending they're actually in the military) and just yell orders at everyone else and then get spiteful when they aren't followed. Not to mention, I've had a few less-than-savoury propositions from creeps.

Careful with that pre-order crap. I preordered Revenge of the Fallen at Gamestop because I love transformers and you got a gold Prime and Megs for multiplayer. What I DIDN'T know was that when you picked it up you were supposed to get a free comic book with it that had the special code for the gold guys, and I spent the extra money to preorder it and got shafted.
