Thanks so much. Where can I find a mug and brush and what kind of shaving cream and aftershave should I use with a Gillette Fusion or Mach 3?
You can find a good starter brush at Wal-Mart. Wilkinson's Sword has my recommendation. You can use any mug you want, even just a plain coffee mug.

Shaving cream and aftershave should be based on your skin type, not the razor. What works for me, may not work for you.

That being said, I use Nivea Shaving Cream that comes in what looks like a toothpaste tube, and Nivea Aftershave balm. However, again, use what works for you.

Just get some decent disposables if you're starting (and there's not much there) - that's what I do. You don't need 5 bloody blades for your first shave.

EDIT: Mine are Gillette by the way.

Now my dad taught me to use a straight razor when I started shaving and if your knows how to use one then you'll feel awesome while shaving, but be prepared to butcher your face on the first few tries.

That being said when I'm feeling lazy I use the mach 3 turbo.

Ask your father or guardian or whatever. It's a great bonding experiance :) I mean, hell!, there should be some kind of law on fathers teaching their sons to shave.
This. My Dad taught me how to shave etc. and it was definitely on of those father/son bonding moments. You sir, are onto something with this law idea of yours.

I use a Braun electric shaver:

It came with its own docking station that cleans it and all. It's great since I'd rather not wake up half an hour early to shave with a razor.

use something like this
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/cc/Merkur_heavy_duty_safety_razor.jpg

And I'll tell you why

1. The blades are cheap ass, you wont get ripped off by designer blades.
2. It'll cut the shit out of you if you shave wrong, so you'll learn fast.
3. The blades last ages, because they're not designed to be deliberately short term like Gillette's and Wilkinson Sword's.
4. When you get a bit older you'll be able to shave with anything because you'll be used to this, and it makes the times when you use a Gillette (or girly razors, as I call them) feel like being kissed by an angel.

This. Classic.
It definitely has to be illegal to not get the nearest father figure to teach you how to shave.
First shave I did was with a single razor knife thing, and a hand mirror. Good times.

I recently acquired a straight razor, it feels manlier, still takes me time to get done, though.
Otherwise I'd recommend an electric razor, I don't like the disposable razors. Of course, with an electric razor there's the incessant buzzing, which is not present with either a straight razor or a disposable blade razor.

A sharp blade is a sharp blade, anything more is just preference.

Personally go for a cut-throat, a good cut-throat will last for the rest of your life... guaranteed to do so if you slip.

I've been thinking of switching to a straight razor. Anyone on here use one all the time? What I've heard from them were basically
1) Be ready to have a butchered face for like 2 months
2) In the end they're cheaper as the disposables can add up.
3) They're a really good shave once you get good.

true or false?
I'm currently using a Gillette fusion.
Used to use one for about a year, then I switched back to my fusion. They're a damn close shave, and you feel like your balls are no less than ten times bigger than they were before, but if you're prone to any skin problems at all they can be hell on earth.
Alright, thanks!
There's a reason why beards and mustaches were so popular way back when. That reason is the straight razor. They'll give the closest shave possible (outside of, I dunno, burning the hair off) but they are astoundingly sharp so any little bump, mole, or pimple will get slashed wide open. Use with extreme caution if you decide to go it alone. Better still, use the smart approach and have someone that knows how to use one teach you.
