Ranger Tempest FTW!!! With modern rifles instead of bows, and pistols instead of the twin swords... bows are only effective inside of ~60 yds, and swords are only effective inside 2 yds.

Rifles can kill from 1.5 miles, and pistols from 100 yds if you're good.
All about the range people, all about the range.
1.5 miles? Have fun trying to hit them. I remember watching a crack sniper team that was shooting a target from a mile away. Even then they took their time and were extremely careful about it. Another half mile? Not a chance.

OT: Rogue, stealthy and silent. Because zombies rely as much on their hearing as they do on their eyes. If they even use their eyes. Can zombies smell?

Extremely knowledgeable about the human body. Some zombies chasing you? Hamstring the suckers. >:)

And it would do me well to have some firearms and explosives proficiency. Just in case...
The record for longest confirmed kill was 2430 meters... Or 1.5 miles. It was made using a Macmillan TAC-50 sniper rifle in Afghanastan by a Canadian sniper. There are new rifles coming out now that should be able to make the same shot at even longer ranges.

Necromancer or Paladin. As a Necromancer, I would basically take them over with my massive mental powers. As a Paladin, I would beat twenty of them up and then retreat when I start to run out of Mana.

Hunter. I can pick them off from afar, have animal friends and natural survival skills to help me out, and live in the woods, possibly building a log cabin.

That, or a Necromancer. One minute there's an army of the undead. The next there's YOUR army of the undead.

Definatly Cleric, with the bonuses I would get against undead and evil, the healing abilities, and my lord's favor nothing could stop me from returning the undead to peace!

I'd be that one RPG class that never tires and has unlimited .30-06 rounds for his scoped Ruger-Mini. I forgot what that class was called in D&D, I stopped reading the rulebooks after 2.0

i dont know any class besides the warrior, rouge, mage classics.... and the way i see it none would particularly dominate over the zombies...
ill say mage like everyone else becuase they would probably do better than the other two.

Well given that Dragon Age is the only fantasy RPG (the others being Mass Effect 1 & 2 and Fallout 3)Ive played Ill base my answer on that game.

I would have to go with the rouge. They have good ranged and melee attacks and the sneak ability. Decent armor to protect from a zombie bite without weighing you down and costing you alot of stamina like the mail or plate that a warrior would wear.

Tough hero from D20 modern with maybe a splash of soldier in there. I want to survive and be able to fight.

I'd likely either go Thief so I can run like a madman if necessary or go a combination of Thief and Ranger. Run like a madman, pick some zombies off on the way to clear a path, it's all good.

People are forgetting that ALL mages begin the game very weak with no AOE spells, I mean sure... EVENTUALLY you will get insanely strong (You will still be a glass cannon but whatever) provided that you stay alive that long! >:D

I would be an Archer, excellent at long range killing and capable of setting up traps and knowledge of wildlife and shizzat. As well as often been awfully acrobatic and being able to conceal themselves well too... actually yeah, archers are the perfect class for the Zombie Apocalypse.
I disagree, sir. I mean come on, zombie apocalypse? This is what paladins fucking live for!

But who wants to be a paladin?

If I could claim Mass Effect as a RPG suitable for zombies, either the Adept or Vanguard class though leaning towards the Vanguard (Nemesis) enough Biotics to keep them at range and if that fails you got a shotgun so it's a win win situation.

To be honest Mass Effect is the only RPG I've played that is closer to modern times than a medieval setting.

never played wow but my friend who does kinda convinced me that if i ever do play to be in the horde and im going to be a foresaken (however its spelled) assasin. I guess i would go with that and if i ever need to heal just go up and feast on a zombie or watever that ability is called.

Otherwise i would probably go for a regular assasin and just hide or whatnot in the shadows avoiding the zombies.

Well I'm going to assume pun pun the kobold would be illegal so in the event of a zombie apocalypse I would have to say D&D 3.5 cleric makes the most sense from a meta-game perspective but I'm not really religious and even if I were to devote myself to my ideals I don't think I would end up with the sun domain which gives greater tuning which kicks undead ass. My personal temperament would probably make me either a paladin/fighter, or maybe an artificer or wizard because while I am quite knowledgeable, clever and handy (if I do say so myself), I am also strong and charismatic even if humbleness has never been a forté of mine.

A rogue? Are you kidding?

Everyone knows undead are immune to critical hits.

But yeah, a Cleric is pretty much the only choice here. Turn undead and live comfortably.
