Deep water doesn't bother me so much, I personally like the freedom of movement water/space gives you. I totally agree with you on the Bloodsuckers though, STALKER is definitely one of the creepiest games I've ever played. I've completed it several times now and the invisible bloodsuckers, the jumpy guys, the poltergeist, and the psychic monsters all really freak me out the first time I come up against them each playthrough. Did you ever find the farm which was infested with bloodsuckers? I ended up sat on top of a tractor with about 4/5 of them running around underneath me with very little ammo left.Mordekaien said:Deep water for one for me too. I don't like swimming sections in general.
On a side note, Bloodsuckers from S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Fuck those guys.
There was a farm infested with them? Well, I'm now relieved that I haven't found it. (I do remember that Barn in the first zone, that gets infested with them later in the game though, is that it?)Sam Warrior said:Deep water doesn't bother me so much, I personally like the freedom of movement water/space gives you. This. Going to The Red Forest at night. Big mistake, never again.Mordekaien said:On a side note, Bloodsuckers from S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Fuck those guys.
Doom 3 had a weak opening and some occasionally lacklustre mechanics (Monster Closets ahoy!) but damn could it work up a tense atmosphere. I remember that one bit you've mentioned, and it sends shivers down my spine just thinking about it.Dirty Apple said:The atmosphere in the newest Doom had me on edge as it was, but there was one part later on in the game when I came to a crossroads and was trying to decide which hallway to take. I arbitrarily decided left and, after having taken a few steps, the lights flickered and a little, barely audible voice said, "Don't go down there." It ran chills up my spine and that was it, I turned around and went the other way.
To this day, I don't know if it was a scripted event or just a random effect. Good golly, though, did it creep me the hell out. This part of the reason that I still haven't tackled Amnesia, eventhough it's been in my library for 5 months. I'm not sure I could hack it.
That building. Damn.Dreadman75 said:The goddamn Dunwitch building from Fallout 3.
The dim lights, the enemies coming out of complete darkness with the intent of clawing your face off, the FUCKING WHISPERS. God the atmosphere of that place always gives me chills.
But I go down there anyway. Why? That fucking bobblehead! I want a complete collection of those little bastards, and I'm going to get it even though it means going through the single most creepy building in the Capital Wasteland.
...Oh, and that really creepy obelisk and the worship it inspired.
I got the HD Collection so I'm playing it for the first time, and I still haven't made it out of the subway. I keep getting hit by the damn train ;(lithiumvocals said:Why would you post that GIF? FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
Silent Hill 2 is creepy as fuck, but Silent Hill 3 scares the shit out of me. The sound design is fucking fantastic at both eerie silence and harsh, irritating cacophony, especially because of these fuckers [http://silenthill.wikia.com/wiki/Pendulum]. I hear that buzzsaw shit in my nightmares.
Your avatar, it is just.. brilliant.Idlemessiah said:Oh yes, deep water. I fell into a lagoon in Minecraft a while ago and there was a ravine at the bottom that was just black. I may have freaked out a bit.
Also atmosphere. The Dunwich building in Fallout 3 does this very well.
