This may be a bit "adult", but Breaking Bad [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0903747/] is something I watched with my dad, its truly terrific. Only a few awkward scenes, which just take place in season one and season three if i'm remembering correctly
Breaking Bad is really one of the only shows that I've watched recently... and while it might be a bit mature, it's a damn good show...<.<

Also, House is a great show... haven;t watched the later seasons... but the first couple were really good...

Firefly, Castle, Bones (a fair bit of "gore", but it was never really that bad IMO, watch an episode so you know what I mean), NCIS, Merlin, and Fringe are shows I have been watching for years (I'm 19) and they're all shows that my parents never had any issues with. They're usually fun to watch, some of them deal with interesting subject matter and in general they are just good TV shows.

Maybe try The Unit? Its got a nice amount of military action in it and also focuses on the drama the characters wives get into to nicely balance things out(one wife has an affair with a rather important character, for instance), giving your daughter something to enjoy too.

Check out One Tree Hill. I can't say how much you'll like it, but she'll LOVE it.
Added to my Instant Queue! We'll try it, thanks!

"God Bless America". And after you watch it, report back here on just how awkward your relationship has become. :p .
You... are... killing me :) Bobcat's movie, right? Very interesting, and no, my kid cannot see it! Scrubs is great. Talked relatives into watching it and they loved it too.

I'll try Parks and Rec too

Lot of good stuff there. I want to watch Firefly. I wonder if I can get her to watch it too?

I wouldn't watch Breaking Bad with her, but one of my current top 5 shows, easily. I can't believe I have to wait for months to see the last 8 episodes.

Lot of people tell me to watch "The Wire". It isn't streaming so I've been getting the DVDs. It's been a very odd experience. I keep telling myself, "too boring... why are you watching this?" and then... I watch some more. Season 4 has really picked up as it focuses some on the classroom. Kids with incredible problems. How do you get a kid to learn when his every day life is incredibly ugly, violent and in an inverse universe were being upright looks stupid? Over all, an interesting show. My kid couldn't handle it though.

Okay, first, tell her soaps suck. Second, introduce her to the awesomeness that is MacGyver.

And, while you're at it, Firefly and Doctor Who. Especially Doctor Who. She will thank you when David Tennant shows up.

I did get her to watch and "like" Buffy. Couldn't keep her interest on "Angel". Wonder if Bones is any good. Something like CSI or Law and Order: not enough drama for her, little to gross.
I'm guessing House is off the list then.

Perhaps NCIS?

And I have to second Vidiot's suggestions of both Doctor Who and Castle.

I watched and loved House. Not her sort of thing. NCIS is likely out too. No on Dr. Who. Castle is not on streaming:-(

Even I don't think they "suck.". I was in the service overseas and it was often the only thing to watch in English!

Firefly is in my instant queue! Now to get her to watch it with me. That or I'll be stuck watching "Gossip Girl" for a dozen seasons. Bleagh.

There was a UK drama a few years back too called "sugar rush". It deals with some controversial topics like sexual identity, obsession, infidelity in some detail though. But it is a very entertaining show.
Oh god, I thought I'd imagined that.

Haha.

I think you're the only other person I'd ever heard of acknowledging that shows existence.

OT: Sherlock.

That must be on Netflix.

It's about the most interesting thing on TV that I can think of, that won't "gross her out" or be too inappropriate.

Weeds is about all else I can think of. Be warned though, there's a fair amount of drug use, explicit[ish] sex and generally pretty adult themes in it. I think most of the series are certified as 18 [UK] but tbh, it's up to the parent to make the choice in my opinion.

Watch a few episodes before letting her see it. But it's got the whole drama aspect she'll enjoy and the plots generally engaging and smart enough (lots of hidden political satire here) that you'll probably get a kick out of it too. I did.

And if you want to get her into the sci-fi/fantasy thing. Lost Girl is like a weird amalgamation of Buffy and True Blood. Not exactly my cup of tea, but it sounds right up her alley.

Edit: If she likes comedy drama, you guys have to watch Green Wing.

If you're in the US, I'm not sure if youtube will let you, but type in 4OD and get to their channel. Both seasons of it are there. And they're freaking hilarious.

BE AWARE: There is quite a bit of nudity in True Blood, whether or not you watch this should largely depend oh how open your family is in regards to viewing/discussion of sexual material. As your Daughter is 15 you may find it uncomfortable.

But on the subject of Vampires, The Vampire Diaries is fairly decent, takes a while to get into it..... Starts out pretty Soapy... But it does get better.

Another recommendation, Black Books. British comedy entirely about the interactions of the three main characters.
