I'm Scottish, and visited the UK really early in my lifetime. Then on return visits for family and the military, I realized that I had very little stereotypes for the UK compared to all the military people deployed at Mildenhall.

Honestly, if I had to give a stereotype for the UK ... it's rainy. Way too rainy for my tastes.

Now let's all pull our rubbers out of the boot of our auto and go shimmy in the puddles.

Douche-baggy. Seriously, all I think about when I hear "Britain" is a country that likes to grab as much land as possible and then treat the people who live there like dirt.

To be fair, those people will be very useful in a few years.

After all, what else do we have too much of that we can set on fire instead of fossil fuels?

I get called a jock constantly. That, and if I eat haggis and drink whiskey/beer/ale/cider/vodka/rubbing alcohol/battery acid with my only pauses for breath being to recite Burns or scoff on some neeps and tatties while wiping my hands on my kilt and complaining of pains in my left arm.

I reply "no" to all of the above, by the way.

Except the battery acid.

Cup o' tea
Fish & chips
Bad Weather

Those are probably the most common.

EDIT: Yes, I am British.

At this moment. I am laughing. And I want to know why everyone thinks we've got bad teeth.

In a lot of movies and games if there is only one guy with a British accent there is a good chance he is the bad guy.
That is because being the villain requires actual acting talent. Those of us from the States are aware that many of our actors do not have the gravitas, skill, or presence of their British counterparts. Thus we caste you lot as the believable villains and keep our people in the, far easier, hero role.

Aside from that when I think of the British I generally think of a polite but fun loving people. After working at a well known theme park, which shall remain nameless, that opinion still holds. Honestly, the British and Asian guests tended to be more understanding, and patient than others.

I imagine people who drink tea and eat crumpets while talking to each other about why they hate the US.

It's a myth that only America puts flouride in their water so their teeth are the only ones in the world that look good. And that British people don't apparently brush their teeth.

At least that's what my coworker just said when I asked her why do a lot of people seem to think that British people have bad teeth.

Whenever I think of Brittish stereotypes I think of the Brittish guy from the 'end of the world' flash video saying "... 'Bout time ey chaps?".

Video's here btw, for those interested: http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/end

I think a lot of these things associated with "British" could probably be better defined as "English".

You won't see the Scottish, Irish or Welsh stereotypically sitting down with tea, crumpets, scones, bowler hats or bad teeth. You'd see them with something else - eg. kilts, Guinness and sheep (respectively).

Some people tend to forget that there's more to Britain than just England =/
