I think a lot of these things associated with "British" could probably be better defined as "English".

Some people tend to forget that there's more to Britain than just England =/
That's just people being rather ignorant unfortunately, or misinformed but I'd put it down to the former more than anything.
I even know a few English people who think likewise, much to my despair.

When I think of Britain I think about V for Vendetta and Big Ben being blown to a million pieces to Tchaikovskys 1812 Overture.
It happened, I was there...honestly.

I would like to point out I hate the queen, the royals and anyone who you could classify as being "posh"

I hate politicians the most though. Stuck up cocks. They earn 6 figures a year and then claim for everything and their dog in living expenses. Well fuck me sideways I earn £230 a week and they can suck my cock.

I think I got sidetracked.
Do you know how much £230 is in USD, I'm just curious because I might move to Britain

I commonly think of Chavs when I hear about britain...I live in a place infested with the buggers...

I imagine a world filled with danger and laughter, as all, and I mean ALL fantasy RPGs and/or fantasy-based lore generally has a bunch of british accents.

No, its just more than half the Escapist seems to hate humanity.
I wouldn't say I hate humanity, just the idiots that get in my face, and thankfully, that rarely happens. :p

Even then it's more pity and irritation.

I'm a Brit and I live in wales but I rule over all them dirty, rugby playing, singing miners. The reason for that is because I'm English and a much higher class then all those "Ruffians". I then talk to my High Class friends how then enslaved the Scottish and Northen Iresh, while eating crumpits by a fire, drinking tea and wearing a bowler hat and monacle.

Tea, rain, bad teeth, silly accents, silly hats, silly walks, silly Monty Python sketches, silly wabbits, vinegar, monocles, Charles Dickens.

I always think tea, of course. Because a friend of mine from England says that "Tea is like crack" for some of you.

And there's a lot of rain, I hear.

And I think you're a tough crew. Britain has the history to make it formidable.

Annnnnd. Um. Yeah.

I heard from a friend that spent a week or so of his summer vacation in england that you guys eat a LOT of potato chips.

Like, with every single meal you eat.

Is this true?

I basically use every stereotype there is about Britain.
I don't believe them, but they're funny.

Douche-baggy. Seriously, all I think about when I hear "Britain" is a country that likes to grab as much land as possible and then treat the people who live there like dirt.
You see have you actually studied the British Empire? If you had you'd know that not only were the British the first people to ban the slave trade and slavery for that matter, they were also by far not the worst. Take King Leopold II of Belgium for instance, he built up an empire entirely for himself and was horribly cruel to all the people who lived there. E.g. Cutting off people's hands etc.

It can also be argued that Britain's motives were intended to be beneficial to the people who lived there. At the time it was know as the 'White Man's Burden' and basically people though they were doing them a favour by introducing these people to civilisation, commerce and christianity and in a lot of cases this really did work, looking at South Africa or Egypt are good examples.

Sorry to have gone all nazi on you here but I just can't stand it when people try to slag Britain off about the empire, it just shows a huge lack of knowledge in the area.

As an English person, I think I only really fulful the stereotype of liking tea (4+ cups a day, anyone?). I have perfect teeth, think our monarch is largely pointless, dislike crumpets and don't wear a bowler all the fucking time. As far as hating Americana goes, it's limited to the ones on XBL who think all British stereotypes are true, while fulfilling their own by being obnoxious, ignorant and generally annoying.

I think he's actually referring to the whole Ireland Independence thing, seeing as how he comes from there.

Yeah you may well be right, jumping to conclusions perhaps. Still the point stands.
