So I was playing mass effect two, and I seem to have a team that I generally like using at all times, So i thought, maybe I should ask you guys what you like using? Power? Biotics? Defence? Which two characters do you choose the most to escort you through missions?

I can tell you mine easily, I love using Jack for crippling offense and Zaeed for pretty good backup. Reave+Shockwave+Infero Grenade = Everyone dead. xD

I always take Miranda because I like the versatility of having a sentinel. I always did the same thing in ME1 if I wasn't playing a sentinel myself. I also tend to use Garrus a lot. He's not anything special but he is damn cool. If only Samara/Morinth were in ME1 when biotics didn't lick sack...........

I didn't really play favourites in ME2. Used everyone except Jacob and Miranda.

ME1 was a different story. I used Wrex and Liara and nobody else. The only exceptions were that one boarding mission involving Garrus and the one where you need decryption to get the data for Tali's pilgrimage.

Tali and Garrus because they're my two favourite characters really. I plan to use them for the final boss in ME3 if possible to complete a hat-trick of Shepard-Tali-Garrus winning.
Although for most missions I do like to switch it around to stop the others getting bored on the ship

Most of the time I tended to use my favourite characters rather than making a balanced team (that being Garrus, Tali, Thane, Kasumi and Legion), although if I did need to make a balanced team, Miranda was usually a given, often accompanied by Kasumi, Garrus or Samara.

I tend to play pretty offensively (I think) and Jack and Miranda (or one of those two and someone else, like Mordin) I find can be pretty bloody devastating.

I usually pick Tali and Legion after the latter unlocks, mostly because I totally ignore my companions and they have some funny dialouge, taking Garrus instead of Legion for sniper support when I have to.

Usually Miranda and Garrus for a balanced team with a good range of options. Except on Insanity. Then I'll swap out Garrus for Grunt for a bit of extra muscle.

Kasumi/Miranda and Grunt/Garrus. Kasumi can hit all the tough bastards from behind with shadow strike while miranda can overload crowds. Grunt is strong like bull, and he soaks up gunfire, and garrus can cover me when I charge in for some shotgun action.

garrus for this assault rifle and usually Miranda for the overload my adept shepard did not have.

I usually went with Jack and Thane. Jack because I find I really need her around when enemies start to get close ("I can take you all!" = crisis averted). Thane is useful, but probably not the best person to have admittedly, but I find his ammo power a great help when built to work for the whole squad.

Also canonically he really should be by my Shepard's side.

...however, I did find Kasumi sneaking into that group pretty often once I got her on my side. That shadow step is great single-target damage.

I picked Jack and Miranda. I love having companions with biotic powers. And those two were just fun to have around.

Also, this may have gone into my decision to pick Miranda, but in ME:2, did you still have to have some sort of engineering talent in your party to open locked stuff and hack computers? I'm thinking you did, which is why I would have brought along Miranda, but I don't remember at all. It's been awhile.

No, you didn't...I kind of wish you did, personally, since it would have made who to bring along more of a situation choice than just combat. I love the cast, but it's a shame they don't factor into gameplay much beyond who's going to hit hardest.

I was an adept and I took Tali and Wrex for being super cool, also they rounded the party out well enough, not that it matter since by the end of the game an adept is basically invincible and capable of killing infinite enemies at any given time due to the lack of global cooldown.

ME2 I added Jack to the party instead of Wrex since with the homogenized class pool there is no reason to round your party out.
That and biotics are rad.

On my first playthrough, as soon as i got them, I used Garrus and Jack almost exclusively for the whole game. Garrus is such a badass when you you recruit him., and the whole game I just wanted to give Jack a hug :(. But on my second run through i mix it up, and try and not use a character more than twice in a row, you get a good mix of each crew member's abilities and weaknesses and how their powers can be used together effectively.

Thane was also one of the coolest characters I've encountered in a while. And I couldn't stand Miranda
