This is just a discussion on what the the big N should do next. In my opinion they should do three things that I'll rip of from Knighwing01 because his points are good and I'm as lazy as a cat on a hot summers day. First thing they should try to acquire more studios like Monolith-Soft or other western developers. Secondly come up with a better marketing campaign than what they have now. Thirdly and probably most controversial buy Sega for ( Use Doctor Evil voice here) 1 billion dollars or pounds or whatever I'm bad with money and also maybe ( Use the voice here again) buy Capcom for 3 billion. These are just suggestions are got of this guy.

I know this is hardly a revolutionary idea but maybe they should make a first-party game that isn't aimed at children or nostalgia-fans (Zelda, Metroid, Mario etc). As someone who isn't a child and isn't a Nintendo fan, I really don't have a reason to care about them and I want that to change.

Buying up other studios isn't a great idea. It won't solve their core problem (Third party developers; they need EA, Ubisoft, and Activision) and the studios they buy will be a money pit trying to make games with the current budgets and only selling them on the Wii U.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Nintendo needs to either man up and release a console that's competitive with MS and Sony's as a gaming platform or get out of the home console business.

That is an interesting point. It kinda makes you think but I doubt Nintendo will release a console to compete in the spec race since they don't like to do that kind of thing. Still what you said has made me think.

1. Stop making WiiUs.
2. Stop publishing games for WiiU.
3. Make more games for the 3DS and its successors which are quite profitable.
4. Profit!

I think it'd be handy if the brought some more developer studios in, though they seem to be doing something similar with stuff like Sega's exclusive Sonic Lost Worlds deal and Bayonetta 2. Second-Party Studios would be handy to have around.

In the end though, it's really not what Nintendo needs to do is what other companies need to figure out. With the rising cost of huge expensive HD games, more companies should be glad to look at the Wii U and realize they don't need a ludicrous graphics budget to make good games, just a nice style and solid gameplay.

Those aint bad ideas. Capcom, especially. Nintendo should have tried to get them a long time ago. Capcom was Nintendo exclusive in the console wars of the 80s-90s. When they split up, both Capcom and Nintendo suffered. Ultimately, I think they just made the smartest decision recently with trying to figure out what the gamepad for the Wii-U can do for gaming. RTS's need to be made for the Wii-U as I strongly believe the Wii-U's pad could bridge the gap between console-pc strategy games. It could make it far less noticeable at any rate. It's most practical use is as an interface aid. It could make a cool photography mechanic in games with cameras. Some type of remote-control camera mechanic even. Maybe an R/C Airplane/Helipcopter game. It has potential. It all just depends on how far Nintendo really is willing to go to explore the gamepad idea and not just claiming it as PR. I bring up Mii's to explain my skepticism. The Mii's were never really supported yet held potential for the system. Especially, when you consider the shovelware road they went down.

Man, his idea on a DS Player through USB on the back is really good. WIth a 3D television you could even bring the 3DS to the Wii-U. His commercial idea is pretty good too. The WIi-U will probably be the first console I buy this gen. Sony may do something slick that gets me aching for a PS4, but haven't yet and doubt they will. Thanks for the video.

No, Xbox and Playstation consoles are pretty much the same thing, we don't need a 3rd one. It's false competition.
Well then that's too bad for Nintendo, but it doesn't mean that "we" need a weak, two-generations-behind-on-features console because that's "real" competition somehow.

Pretty much, unfortunately.

I just think that the home console market has shifted too much from what Nintendo does for them to remain competitive within it much longer. It isn't really about old franchises, or mechanically-solid yet still simple games (usually single player or local co-op). The big home consoles nowadays are about spectacle. As big, and shiny and 'Hollywood' as they can get, with multiplayer aspects that are usually a significant portion of the experience, if not the main reason for buying. Nintendo just doesn't do that. Their core franchises may have evolved some with the times and become more sophisticated in terms of mechanics and visuals, but at their core they are still very much Nintendo games.

It just seems like the handheld market is more of a realistic home for them nowadays, and being the dominant handheld on the market does let you undercut the big console guys some as well. Not everyone has the time, or money, or shelf space for more than one home console. But it's a lot easier to own a console and have a handheld you play on the side.

I also see the problem with that approach. It would be a big loss of faith in their ability to create good hardware and probably cost them a bundle. Even if they go down in this generation I want them to do it in the best way possible.
Yehah, and fuck the 5 million or so Wii U owners.[/quote]

Also it would be a sign of disrespect to the consumer.

BloodSquirrel thinks as I do. I'm not going to feel bad about it either. We've had this warped lofty view of how they want things to be from Nintendo for a long time now, and frankly they haven't been able to deliver on their promises. Nintendo still also act like they did when they were kings of the industry, and that's a problem because the game has changed vastly and they have failed to play catch up enough with MS and Sony.

The luxury of going 'your own way' is no longer theirs to have, if gamers and developers disagree with it and won't support it in enough numbers to break even. I think that without an alternative plan to match Sony and MS as they should, they will be confined to the edges of the industry, until they make a good game now and then. If they aren't prepared to play ball and give gamers the home console we deserve from them, after getting fat on our support and money, then I'm afraid they can buy their own games/consoles themselves.

It seems that even Nintendo have learned nothing their previous mess up or from MS great E3 180, and that its not a good idea to do something your customers don't like. If you want their support, you need to adjust your view or gamers will buy other stuff. Simple as.

Their view on mobiles should be better, but they still shut it down, wanting to push app ads than actual games. As for the rumoured Nintendo Fusion. It sounds interesting but is kind of missing the point, while trying to kill two birds with one stone. The spec that leaked for it still wants to use Power PC, which is frankly insane these days, when x86 is standard. Will it again be cannibalizing old GC tech? Sounds like it to me (and if so its already gonna lack support), but the leak could be crap anyway, time will tell.

I'd love to buy another Nintendo console, but only when Nintendo step off their lofty Columbia like cloud and get in line.

Speak for yourself,
Why don't you try taking your own advice for once? The Wii U is flopping. No matter how much it pisses you off, you do no speak for most of the market and nobody cares how much you love Mario.

The people I can speak for vastly outnumber the people you can speak for right now, and the people I can speak for don't want to buy a console just for Nintendo's nostalgia-driven lineup of first-party games.

Nintendo should not change for you.
The fuck they shouldn't. I don't owe Nintendo anything, and neither does the rest of the market. If they can't make a profit with their current strategy then it isn't everyone else's job to change for them, it's their job to adjust to the market.

Firstly they need to get their heads out of their collective ass and make the 3DS Ambassador games available to the general populace. It's been almost 3 years, and it's just free money that they are sitting on.

They also need to buy Rareware back from MS and try and get the original dev team back together. I want another Jet Force Gemini, dammit.

Fuck the market.
Yeah, sales do speak for themselves. And they say "flop".
