The thing with the OP's idea is that it limits you. Sure, it extends replay value, but I don't think that's how it works. In an RPG, a role playing game, I want to see a problem, and solve it however I see fit. I wouldn't enjoy being forced to play a certain way just because the game made me choose a path to follow.

Replay value doesn't necessarily matter if the game is already good. If it is, then you'll play it again anyway. Besides, its not like the developers/publishers care how long the game is; you're going to buy it anyway, no matter the length.

A simpler Oblivion. (I feel shitty for saying this) They don't hold your hand enough in that game. Thats why I suggested the 'master' thing so that you have someone to go to to learn how to develop your skills in that class. In Oblivion i wanted to be a master of the destruction spells but all the people I tried to get training from either asked for somethin to high or my skill level was to low. : (
You mean you didn't have enough money?
All you needed to do was steal & sell shit & you'd be good.

Am I the only one who avoided absolutely anything Peter Molyneux said about the Fable 1 and 2 and actually really liked them for what they were?

If you want Fable to be Oblivion, why not just play Oblivion? I prefer to keep the RPGs at least a little different, not just play Oblivion over and over again. While a sprawling world would make nearly any RPG better, it seems like everything else, especially the gameplay, is just Oblivion. That's the thing I liked about Fable, the ability to do whatever you wanted with your abilities and not be penalized for it. I loved the idea of being a Warrior Ranger, or a Warrior Mage, or a Ranger Mage, or a Warrior Ranger Mage three-way. But maybe that's just me.

Fable 1 and 2 are both quite good, and sold real well.

I have a feeling 3 will be the same.

ANYWAYS i think fable should stop with the you're disgustingly good or heinously evil aspect. also the one that isn't strength or magic ( i forgot what it's called) should have more stealth

bring back armor(i actually heard they have) and don't make fable3 kinect dependent.
It's not (and was never) going to be kinect dependant, not to mention that stealth doesn't really fit in the 'BIG HEROIC TALE' sorta thing.

Oh, and there's a reason that Fable 2 didn't have armour in.

Because guns beat the shit out of knights.

I don't see the need for much change, I played Fable 2 and thought it was a really good game, it had great voice acting, fun combat, well-told story, and a real-estate system that makes you spend hours just to buy and rent out 1 measly house.

Peter Molyneux from my perspective has done brilliantly with the Fable francise, and I'm looking forward to Fable 3.

The problem with these sorts of games and Lionhead never managed to get around is good and evil is good and evil. If being evil will lead to the same results as being good what's the point of playing the latter? As one put it describing Overlord, in Fable you don't get to be hero or villain but good hero and asshole hero.

What? What was that? I'm sorry, I was too busy playing the game you just described to hear you.

Seriously though, as far as I'm concerned, Fable should be Fable. Petey's done a good job with it thus far, and I trust him to keep doing it come #3.
I havent played that game yet, but sort if wanted too. Is it any good?

OT: You want fable to become a different game. While I want fable to more or less stay the same.

As has been said, it just sounds like you need to be playing another, mostly likely one that isn't Fable. That way, the rest of us can continue to enjoy Fable 3 when it comes out.

Thankfully, it's too late for Lionhead to implement any of your changes. Assuming they would even do so, that is.

Anyway, this is what sequels tend to do in most cases (Dragon Age 2 notwithstanding perhaps) - deliver a similar experience to what came before, only hopefully better and partially why people tend to look forward to them.

Ok, I feel like I need to add my 2 cents here...

Fable is an RPG for newcomers (there I said it). Fable 1 was my 1st RPG ever and I loved it! However, after playing Star Wars: KotOR and Mass Effect 1 I was severely disappointed with Fable 2.

On the other hand...my younger brother LOVES Fable 2! He still plays it to this day and hes already finished the game like 10 times! Its the only RPG hes ever played and thats why he loves it, because its simple to master and not difficult at all.

If I were to recommend an RPG to someone whos a fan of RPGs I say go for Dragon Age, Mass Effect 1/2, Oblivion/Fallout 3 or KOTOR...but if I were to recommend someones FIRST RPG ever...I say go play Fable 1/2.

I think that was the goal of the Fable franchise to begin with. To be a middleground between action/adventure games and complicated RPGs

Imagine that the Dragon Age team got together with the Oblivion team and and Rhianna Pratchett and they decided to make a parody of fantasy games and pop culture in general that's also a roguelike where you turn into a dragon.

Interpret that as you will.

I would say that after playing Fable 2, it's essentially "Gamer's First RPG" that doesn't bog things down too much to make it unwieldy. This gives it the mass appeal that can merge more types of people of differing tastes.

Having classes and the like would not work because as it stands, there are three departments that determine everything, and you can't really get specialized skills out of strength, magic, and dexterity alone.

Maybe the third will continue with a very easy to learn approach but offer more advanced options once you've worn out the basics to death. If combat was a little more diverse, then it could open up the ability to play more of a light warrior/assassin type who uses mostly ranged and quick, short ranged melee for example. The important thing is to keepthe essential elements are in tact that allow you freedom to develop your skills to match your fighting style/character. The game allows this, but as I said, maybe have a few new options for people once they advance and want to experiment more and not just become an epic mage/warrior/shooter by the game's end.

And as many have already said, fix the bloody "good" and "evil" thing so it's actually influential on the game.

The game already has three classes, skill, will, and strength. Hammer of Strength, Reaver of Skill, Garth of Will, and you the balance of the three. The knight, ninja, barbarian, and mage idea is ok sounding, except replace knight with hero, all three combined.
No they don't. Admit it, everyone just maxs out magic and strength and gets pretty much the same character as everyone else. With the classes you'll have to devote your skill points into one class (or spend hours leveling up and raise skills for every class at the same time), thus making you a certain type of hero. Some people will have a quick, agile Sephiroth-like character by spending all their skill points in the Swordsman and Ninja classes. Whereas someone else could make a Hercules or something by focusing only onthe Barbarian skillset.

Fable as it is allows you to max everything so in the end everyone will turn out the same.
You misunderstood me, what I was saying was In regard to mythos. Yes you could just go with varous warrior names, or you could play into the three and one idea from 2.

Sorry, being allowed to devolep into whatever tree and exact skill you want is one of the main selling points in Fable. I always loved being a complete full-bred mage with these blue-veins, but still be an agile and fast swordman without too much health.

I love the Fable Franchise. It doesn't boxes you into specific classes.
I never said you couldn't mix clases. I said that since it will take many skill points (you get one evrytime you level up) to learn new abilities in a class you'd probably just stick to one. Its possible to combine many classes but it'd take you a helluva lot longer to learn advanced attacks.
