It was over hyped to begin with, and turned out to be far less deadly then originally feared. Hence, nobody gives a crap about it.

It hasn't disappeared, it's just the flu season in the northern hemisphere has ended. The hype and everything will be back in about six months -- hopefully it hasn't mutated into something worse by then.

Everyone realized that it was just a slightly different version of the normal flu. More people die of the standard flu every week, if not every day, then have died of the swine flu.

It spread to other countries.
It was never really a problem in America since it only killed a 23 month year old toddler who had no immune system and lived with rabid dogs who fed him boiled cyanide pills every day.

That was exaggerated.

But yeah, for non-third-and-second-world countries like the USA and those of the UK it poses no real threat and we were able to eliminate the problem in our respective countries causing it to pack its bags and move to Shittistan (not a real country) where it lives a happy life on a dual-ended waterslide EX: Your anus and esophagus.

Just one of those things that just fell out like most other 'threats'. It was a scare for what? one week? two weeks? then nothing. People just freak out over every little thing nowadays.

I had fun calmly telling people that swine flu is no big deal because it was not anywhere near as dangerous as regular flu; they responded with skepticism and in some cases they were a tad incredulous. Maybe it had something to do with the way I calmly described death tolls....
My only real concern was that, if kids got sick where I am, they would close the schools and shut down my crew team's trips...

The media got tired of it because it wasn't as "exciting" as they scared us into believing it would be.

I live in Tennessee and people were freaking about the think. Then the whole Bull Sh*t with Ms. California (Or whoever) came around and I never heard about it again. Aren't we all supposed to be dead by now?
LOL! I live in Tennessee too and I was thinking the same thing. Swine Flu was like the big thing, and my grandmother is always the one who gossips and talks about how the world is gonna end in like 2 seconds, and when Swine Flu came around, she lost her fucking mind and went berserk, then when that Miss California thing came up, she had lost all interst in Swine Flu and now wont stop talking about miss cali and her dumbass response

it was a overestimated version of a normal flu, just a little more powerful. those people who died because of it had a weak immune-defense (small kids, old people, people with chronical diseases).
Actually, the victims are young people with strong immune systems.

The immune system reacts so strongly that the victim get water in their lungs and drown.

Another bit of information is that WHO has decided to upgrade the flu to level 6 on their spread scale, where 6 is the highest level.

Swine Flu's gone... hmmm. Didn't Spanish Flu bother people for a bit then disappear only to come back and you know... kill 50 million people. Hey it might never happen again.

Because the H1N1 virus (It has absolutely nothing to do with pigs; it is not swine flu) is just a different strain of the exact same flu virus we deal with every day. The only danger it poses comes from the fact it's unfamiliar to our bodies, so those who are unable to adapt (i.e. those who are very young or very old, or have a weakened immune system) are the only ones significantly affected.

The number of people who die from H1N1 and 'regular' flu are about the same. The media are simply cam whores who will latch on to anything that will get them watched.

It's like the pseudo-Nostradamus cult, it got a bunch of media attention then it ended up being a hoax. Wait...a "few" people died? Oh my bad! Didn't a "few" people die in Iraq too? Maybe I should compile a list of things the bias news has made us freak out about over the last 10 years distracting us from global issues and our economy.

I don't know about you all, but I am going to start traveling the country by foot relying on my own instinct and knowledge like Chris McCandless. After all I think Fox News is more lethal than this so called "swine flu" will ever be. I'd rather die eating a mushroom any day than choking on another six pounds of horseshit.

Thank you and have a good day! :D

While swine flu itself is probably still around, it's the old case that the media has gotten bored of it, the novelty has just worn off. The newspapers and new programmes on tv will only ever stick with a story until another one comes along that's worth following even more.

So, here in the UK, swin flu was only headline news until the expenses scandal kicked off. Once that had begun, all I saw of swin flu was at the end of one news show, they quickly said "in other news, there are another 8 confirmed cases of swine flu in the UK".

Anyway, who wants to take guesses on what the next brand-name "flu" will be? Personally, my money's on Piscine Flu. Fish seems like the obvious choice and to make it as unsettling as possible, they will have to go for an all encompassing term.
