Ive been playing some fighting games recently and on thing i notice about all of them was that the end bosses seem to be designed to annoy you. Like when I play usually i want to see everyones story and unlock other characters but sometimes the end boss pisses me off so much i just decide to quit. Here are some examples:

Street Fighter 4 - This is probably the one end boss that makes the least bit of sense, i kindov understand why you would take moves from other characters and put them into one guy, but seth is a butthole. He spams his attacks, especially that piledriver he stole from zangief, i remember fighting seth once and that was the ONLY attack he used.

Tekken 5 - I hate Jinpachi. I really do. This guy is os annoying to beat, with his atacks that stun you, a fireball that takes over half your health, and to top it off he can teleport. THat is my definition of assh***

Tekken 6 - Wow another tekken one? Anyways Azazel isnt AS hard as Jinpachi but hes still a cheap bastard. Honestly. He takes up half the screen. Alot of his attacks are long ranged. he has some attacks where you cant hit him whilst he prepares or charges. oh and he take about twice as much damage as you. Yep I hate this guy.

And these are only a few to name.
These guy are makeing the game a chore. For people who arent super elite at fighting games the only way to beat these guys is to spam attacks and that takes the fun out of playing the game. When i start the game i look forward to an epic climax but instead am treated to the most frustrating 20 minutes of my life.

So escapists whats your take on these fighting game bosses?

Yeah...That's why I'll never beat Arcade Mode in Blazblue on Hard. Nu and Hakumen are fucking death machines. Even on Normal.

I think fighting game bosses just keep getting more elaborate. Azazel was pretty cheap (funny how he was a snap in campaign mode) and took some time to get used to. I found him more tricky than Jinpachi.

I fucking hate fighting game bosses. They fall into one of two categories:

-are far more skilled than you. [small]And they have strong attacks.[/small]
-are three times your size, and use cheap tactics to win.

Bosses have always played a pivotal part in video games, but in fighting games, we're better off without them.

Heh the games I'm prone to play have the opposite problem.

In MW1&2 and Saboteur the end fights are turned into cinematic moments and the actual fight involves one impossible to lose pressing of a few buttons.

They're not too terrible though. It's just a matter of getting more adept and running your chosen character. When I finally beat I-No for GGX2 #reload on Maniac difficulty it was definitely a rewarding experience.

To be fair if they didn't do any of these then they wouldn't really be bosses.

Yeah to me the only "bosses" that seemed appropiate to me were the ones in KOTOR 1/2 and Oblivion. Pretty much every other game just had oversized bosses with repetitive attack patterns.

This completley off topic but i just had an idea
What if in a fighting game if you use the same attacks over and over they get weaker?
And attacks are stronger as you vary it up? this would certainly help against the bosses i mentioned becuase they only use about 3 moves

The only fighting to game to get it right was Tekken 3. Ogre was a challenge but not cheap

Sounds like you should play demo souls, also I agree with you. Not that a lot boss fights are hard, but there cheap, if there is a obvious way to dodge a boss attack but it is hard, then they done it right. But if you have a boss move that I am running to get away from but cant, then you done it wrong.

What pisses me off more are the bosses where its not 1 on 1. Rather they have a whole bunch of annoying ass minions attack you

That all depends on how you define a boss. In most games, a boss fight is an opportunity to put what you, the player, has learned to the ultimate test in order to accomplish a strongly established goal (like taking a test at the end of a class.) However, in fighting games, there is just too much to master, making most boss fights ridiculously easy or embarrassingly infuriating.

You make a valid point, but remember, the best bosses are those that are undefinable.

Tekken 4 took out the super bosses for actual tough fighting, I was thinking that it was awesome, hard, very hard, but awesome (and winnable!).

Then fight Jinpachi, wtf!

Seriously they could just have a high dificulty fighter in it's place, even Soul Caliber is prone to doing super bosses despite the fact it's a freaking FIGHTING GAME not a BRAWLER!

You don't play too many fighters, my friend.

There are others, for example...

Gill (Street Fighter 3) - regardless of what others say, Gill is not "cheap". Gill is what a boss should be, difficult. Sure, most of his attack hit twice and thus gave him a bit of an attack boost, but he's still very manageable.

Demon Hyo (Project Justice) - another boss that was just difficult... unless you picked someone like Kyousuke, or Roberto. Then you could easily wipe the floor with him.

Dural (Virtua Fighter) - like Gill, Dural is hard but she's not all that bad. Dural is one of those bosses that will plat out just beat your ass for no reason; no power-ups, no "wtf?!" like tricks, just pure unadulterated ass-kicking.

Jivatma (The King of Fighters 2006) - a balanced boss in an SNK game is saying something. Outside of his ridiculously long reach (and one low attack that tracked), it's very easy to make short work of him... or it, or... something.

Kain R. Heinlein (Garou: Mark of the Wolves) - Kain's more or less the model for how bosses should be. He's not difficult at all, but he can kick your ass.

Abyss (Marvel vs Capcom 2) - Abyss is a joke, especially if you have projectile characters. Only his third form may give you a problem, and that's simply because of his elevated hitboxes (and the one move where he summons a bunch of demons out of the ground). But even then, he (or it, rather) is laughable.

Then again... there are very few tha play fighters as much as I do.

I'll say this much more then I'm out, those of you who play Blazblue, you're gonna have a ball if you ever try Score Attack and make it to Black Ragna...
