Have you ever bought a game on a wim, got home played it for five minutes and thought "What the hell was I thinking? This game sucks ass"

I've had that feeling twice with Bullet Witch which is Devil May cry with all of the fun and anything that isn't a wall removed from the scenery. Also with Star Wars Republic heroes which is just terrible.

Prince of Persia. Though it was about 2 hours into the game where the black goo comes in. I tried to keep on playing, but that stupid switch turning maze made me hate it. In the backlog with you, PoP!

Ninety nine nights.
And the .Hack game. Maybe it's because the clerk messed up and gave me the wrong disk, but it was so boring, monotonous, and badly voice acted to me.

I usually just get pissed because I wasted my money but I never really wonder what I was thinking. maybe it's because I don't buy games I think would suck :p

HAZE. Bought it without knowing a damn thing about it, thinking the stupid bee-man aesthetic could make another Quake 3D clone slightly more hilarious in a season of release drought. Boy was I wrong.

Yes yes yes I have.

Bought MGS4 and it was freaking awful. I played for about 2 hours without once having to use stealth, just run n gunned my way through it.

So I traded it in for £15 then saw Saints Row 2 for £15 and bought that. Another poor decision, what an absolute pile of turd that game was. I don't even need to explain why, it's just so obviously bad.

The new 'Turok'.

Well, at least after going through this experience I vowed to never buy games on a whim again - anything I'm interested in I rent before considering a purchase.

Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Dark Athena. I bought it and thought I'd play the remake of Butcher Bay first, which was showered with praise when it came out...and then I realized it's crap. The stealth is crap, the combat is crap, and even the controls aren't very good. Vin Diesel's gravelly voice does not a good video game make. And the graphics don't save it either. Overall, I might as well have thrown my money out the window and saved myself the trouble of buying and installing it.

Ooooh... I know one. Blue dragon.
Got it to impress a girl.
Long story. don't wanna talk about it. what I will say is that the phrase 'worst. idea. EVER.' comes up fairly often.

Jupp, I'm going with this.

I thought it would be fun considering that I loved the sands of time trilogy, but god damn was it bad. And boooooring.

Left 4 Dead - It was fun initially, but man did it get stale fast. Then instead of additional content, Valve decided to screw this and just make a second L4D. Worse purchase ever.
Because a new game-mode, new campaign and about 3 or so new Versus maps is nothing, and who says they're not adding more stuff in the future? They even talked about integrating L4D with L4D2, so what are you whining about?

Still I háve to agree with your statement that it got stale pretty quickly, I heard everyone rage about how many gazillion hours they pumped into L4D, until I discovered that I got bored after 26 hours. Still quite a lot, and I had tons and tons of fun in that 26 hours, but I couldn't help but think "Oh, is this it?"

That is, until I joined a PC gaming clan, and my L4D (and recently L4D2) hours shot up like a rocket. It's so incredibly insanely fun with a solid group of people.

Anyway, my examples would be Soul Calibur 4 and Ninja Gaiden 2. It's not that I resented buying them for being bad, they're really quite good, it's just that I suck so incredibly hard in games with massive lists of combo's you have to stamp onto your brain, I never even dared touching NG2 again after seeing my brother (he does rock at games like that) fight the final boss.

You'd think I would've learned that after Ninja Gaiden 2, but I still bought Soul Calibur 4 for some odd reason I can't recall, and promptly got my ass handed to me every time I touched the game.
