Im not gonna flame you, even though it is one of my favourite ever games.

Just out of interest. What did you find so frustrating about it?

When I picked up Mass Effect. Yes, I know, it's a good game. But it isn't my kind of game. My friend recommended it, but I just couldn't get more than 15 minutes in.

Recently - Brutal Legend. Played the demo and loved it, got the game and loved the first part again before the shitty RTS part of it reared its ugly head.

Not recently - Over G Fighters or Brawl (and I loved Melee so much!). What the fuck was I thinking?
Most people bought Over G because it was the only new game for the 360 at the time

I don't think I've ever bought a game without checking into it online first.

I've never really had that feeling thankfully.

It's rare that I buy a game I actually dislike. Thank goodness I don't suffer from impulse buying. xD

But I do have a couple and one of them is Chaos Legion. I wanted to like it. I really did. It reminded me of Devil May Cry meets Shadow Hearts, an amazing sounding combo. But the difficulty slapped me in the face a good couple times, unless I'm just inept at that game. I gave up on it pretty fast.

Er, yes they do. Dead or Alive 2 for the Dreamcast or Ultimate DOA for the Xbox is the best fighting game ever.

The paper, scissors, rock battle system is genius as it eliminates button mashers from beating the pros, it's fluid, graphics are awesome, soundtrack is perfect. The game is pretty much invincible.

Fair enough statement about the spin-offs, but don't shunt the franchise just because it has lots of pretty girls in it. To do that would be to shunt every game made out of Japan besides the Gradius series.

Sorry I'm sounding really grumpy about this but I love DOA2 and I didn't buy it for porn purposes. I still play this game whenever I've the time to plug in the Dreamcast or Xbox.

to be honest, i couldn't really tell you. i didn't play long enough to compile enough reasons and it's been almost 2 years since i played it now. from what i remember:
i couldn't find the sword, no one gave me any hints, navi pissed me off, music was tedious and everyone i spoke to annoyed me. also the first dungeon was unnecessarily complicated.

For some reason, I bought "The Incredibles: The Game" that came out with the movie and "Naruto: Uzumaki Chronicles" for the PS2 way back then.

I enjoyed Naruto for a brief period though I never touched it again, and I never got past one part of the Incredibles.

Sonic and the Secret Rings. I really wasn't thinking. In my mind it was either that or Call of Duty 3 for the Wii.

The new 'Turok'.

Well, at least after going through this experience I vowed to never buy games on a whim again - anything I'm interested in I rent before considering a purchase.
I remember having quite the same reaction. Fortunately i got it used at Gamestop and returned it the next day.

That's right Gamestop for all your Gaming hardware needs. Return any used game within 7 days for any reason for a full refund

And the .Hack game. Maybe it's because the clerk messed up and gave me the wrong disk, but it was so boring, monotonous, and badly voice acted to me.
I love Ninety Nine Nights.

Yes yes yes I have.

Bought MGS4 and it was freaking awful. I played for about 2 hours without once having to use stealth, just run n gunned my way through it.

So I traded it in for £15 then saw Saints Row 2 for £15 and bought that. Another poor decision, what an absolute pile of turd that game was. I don't even need to explain why, it's just so obviously bad.
You know, I honestly thought the ridiculously bad english in the first few posts would be the most ludicrous thing I saw in this thread. I was so, so very wrong.

I'll give you MGS4. It was a departure from the series, and in many ways did not feel right. Of course, if you only played two hours, then you only played "Iraq War: Guest-Starring Snake!" and not the game itself. And stealth has never been necessary to win the game, excluding those games made prior to Solid. So in summation: I disagree with your opinion but can see how you might have reached this conclusion based on your expectations and taste.
But to say Saints Row 2 was this bad and to say there is no other conclusion? I simply can't understand this. The only way you could arrive at this conclusion is to hate games where "spray bullets" is a gameplay mechanic, which then begs the question why you purchased MGS4. There isn't any part of the game that is out-and-out bad. The combat is functional, the physics aren't bullshit, there is a crap-ton of content to play with (even without the DLC), there are clear rewards for completing said extraneous activities (unlike games like, say, Assassin's Creed or Fable 2), and the difficulty curve provides an adequate challenge.
Let me make something clear: SR2 is NOT one of my favorite games. In fact, as much as I enjoy it, I play the rest of my library far more. So I'm not going into all this just because I am upset someone dared slight a game I go fanboy for.
I'm just taken aback by the sheer GALL of the statement that SR2 was so bad that examples of its lack of quality need not be put forth. I can understand you not LIKING the game but I really cannot understand how you can make the claim you have.
So yes. Please explain.

On the actual topic: I want to say Darkwatch, except I know exactly what I was thinking. I was THINKING it would be the rather good game that had been demonstrated during its production. It turns out this was not the case.
The only game I could say this about would probably be Iron Man. I KNEW it would be bad, I had HEARD it was awful, but I purchased it nevertheless. It is bad.

How do you hate that game? might be the fact that you weren't in an arcade. that is when a rail shooter shines.

anyway: Viva Pinata. it is maybe one of the best "kidy games" for the Xbox, but it has just eaten so many hours of my life, I wonder why I bought it in the first place.

You should go back and play it again.
What was complicated about the first dungeon? That's an honest question, not an aggressive remark. I had trouble the first time I played it because it was the first Zelda I had ever played and I could not understand that lighting the torch would open a door. It did not make any sense to me, and so I spent several minutes looking for a hidden door or switch.

Im a massive pain when it comes to these types of things, if i walk into a game shop just to browse or something, and i have money, 9/10 ill buy a game. NOT a random game, but one ive wanted, or still want, but dont nessecarily need at the moment.

Like i bought midnight club LA about a fortnight after my pre-order of l4d2 came. played it for about 20 minutes, then went back to l4d, havent played it since >.<

A "third-person shooter with vertical-based platforming set in a steampunk western" was going to be my anti-drug. "Damnation" turned out to be my anti-christ.

Sorry, my mistake. Most people don't buy DOA games that have come out recently for gameplay purposes. Not from what I've seen, anyway.
