So... what time do you think it is acceptable to start drinking at?

I ask this because it is currently 2:46 Pm (here in the UK)
and I've had a few drinks to celebrate my end of exams, and feel like getting people's opinions on this.

Do you need a specific reason to drink? whether it be socialising, or celebration, or whatever the reason.

personally, i believe drinking in the morning is a bit wierd unless there is a reason.

Depends how much you're drinking...

If you're having a glass of wine or a pint with lunch, not such a big deal. If you're slamming back 4 beers over your lunch break, that's not really acceptable.

I prefer start drinking upon the setting of the sun and (typically) never before then.
It just makes me feel like less of an alcoholic if I have certain time requirements.

Any time after you roll out of bed is perfectly fine to start drinking.

Just give yourself time to sober up before you need your mental faculties.

After exams, and especially at the end of high school, for one week it is acceptable to drink at any point of the day and for any length of time.

Alcoholics aside, really as soon as the sun goes down is a "socially acceptable" time to start drinking.

No excuse needed after noon! Before noon requires a certified reason which can be entirely imaginary because you are the only person you need to convince. Also if you haven't been to bed then its perfectly acceptable to just keep drinking through the morning

When you are 18, as soon as you wake up. But only for that year. If you continue on after that, you are a drunkard.

/rural Australia raised logic.

Basically in my last year of school my entire year, standing on the social ladder notwithstanding was drunk day in, day out.

This is kind of gross, but expected of 18 year olds. Ahh, all the destroyed brain cells.

Depends on when you wake up, my opinion is that (like swimming) you must wait 30 mins. no more, no less. Otherwise you risk serious AIDS related disease

There is a time and a place for drinking, all revolving around reason. As long as the reason is acceptable, then the time and place are more coincidental.

If you're drinking at 10am because you're celebrating passing an exam, that's all fine and dandy. If you're drinking at 10pm because you're an alcoholic, that's not good.

Personally, I use to down four to six shots of Bacardi 151 every morning at around 8am for several months when I first started working overnights. Seemed to help me fall asleep faster and help me sleep through the sunlight. And I definitely wanted to try and get my eight hours in before my roomates got off from work at 5pm.
