Once you're finished with school or work for the day, and you're sure you don't have to drive for the rest of the day you can get as pissed as you want.

When i was in gymnasium we usually celebrated the weekend by getting drunk outside the school every friday if the weather was good.

A few times when a single class was canceled for the day and we had to w8 like 2 hours for the last class we got drunk as well... don't do this if your teacher is an evil dictator who thinks that you're disrespecting his teachings because you have to take a piss durring class (regardless of whether you've been drinking or not)

Id' say noon at the earliest unless there's a special event (e.g. champagne breakfast). As for reasons.. in my opinion drinking in the morning is kinda wierd. Also, it should be for a reason (socialising etc). If you're drinking (and here I mean more than just a nightly glass of red wine with dinner) without reason.. just to drink alcohol than that's not too good.

As the person above me rightly stated: reason is more important than when. You can still drink after noon and I would think that wasn't quite good.

6 or 7-ish is technically the evening, so about then. If you have it with a meal you can have it anytime, the same applies if you're homeless and only drink white lightning (usually outside my house)...

Whenever you feel like it, is the obvious answer. No point getting drunk by someone elses rules. I occasionally start drinking within an hour of getting up, and some days I dont drink at all. But lets be honest, theres some days not worth staying sober for.

Used to drink at 11 am when at uni cos that when our student union started serving, sometimes it would open at 10:30, happy days, nothing like a cheeky pint to get you through a boring lecture.

After you get out of bed until you go to bed.
Remember: It is always beer-time ;)
... I actually have a mini fridge full of drinks and first thing I do when I wake up is lean over and get one before I even step a foot out of bed. Daddy needs his medicine to face the world. As for the occasion... I didn't swallow my tongue and die in my sleep!
Yeah, I know that. Whenever it's not a work-day (i.e. holidays, weekends, you name it) I tend to have breakfast with beer, have lunch with beer, have dinner with beer, than have some more beers, go to friends to drink beer, and then we'll have a beer to wash it all up before we go to bed and start it all over the following day.

So... what time do you think it is acceptable to start drinking at?

I ask this because it is currently 2:46 Pm (here in the UK)
and I've had a few drinks to celebrate my end of exams, and feel like getting people's opinions on this.

Do you need a specific reason to drink? whether it be socialising, or celebration, or whatever the reason.

personally, i believe drinking in the morning is a bit wierd unless there is a reason.
...You're European. From my point of view, you're allowed to drink whenever the hell you want and not be in the wrong. On the American side of things, I think that in MOST situations, drinking before 7pm might mean you have an alcohol problem.

Well, I'd say it's okay to start drinking at noon if it's in conjunction with food.
Say, a cold beer with a tasty roast and dumplings, what more could you want?

Don't drink during the forenoon and only drink in the afternoon if there's a reason for it, for example you're in a park/beer garden with good friends.

I wouldn't drink any strong alcohol (vodka, whiskey, etc.) before late evening, though.

On rare occasions, I'll have a beer with lunch (usually when I'm on vacation), but otherwise, I don't drink anything alcoholic until I'm having supper (dinner, whatever you call the evening meal) or later.
