If I'm at a football match that kicks off early, its not unknown for me to be drinking around noon time. Breakfast has already been consumed by then, so its all good. I know some people like a touch of bucks fizz on christmas morning as well, but thats only once a year so it can't really be condemned.

i feel that it is acceptable tyo have a couple of pints (NO MORE!) with a meal at around 1:00pm. after that, no more drinking until at least 6:00pm, when "the Sun has crossed over the yard-arm"

Whenever u feel like.
Time is relative, but if u have a drink every morning before work. U may want to seek counseling.

Depends how much you're drinking...

If you're having a glass of wine or a pint with lunch, not such a big deal. If you're slamming back 4 beers over your lunch break, that's not really acceptable.
This guys got it right

just had a thought - its perfectly fine when on holiday to drink 24/7 :p - even whilst you sleep just have an IV hooked up to a keg - instead of pumping it in your veins you can have it dripping into your mouth

ANNNNNNND now i want said contraption

I'd also say it depends on your profession, if you're a Doctor or Surgeon, I'd say it's probably not acceptable to drink at all during work hours or before work hours. Likewise for a teacher, policeman or other person who should be seting a good example.

If you're unemployed, just don't stop drinking.

I don't drink. But I'd say any more than one at lunch is overdoing it, and then no more until your evening meal. After that you can carry on for as long as you like.

...and just remember, it's not the next day till you go to sleep. Thus, if you never go to sleep, you'll be able to acceptably drink at 7am!

I have been known to have a bloody mary with breakfeast (Hey, tomato juice is a breakfast drink-- the vodka is incidental)... often.

Seriously, the bottom line is this- drinking is like anything in life: it's up to you to be responsible about it. I've known a guy who was a multimillionare software developer who spiked his coffee every single morning. I've also known total screwups who couldn't hold a job, but hadn't touched drugs or alcohol even once in their lives.

The key is knowing yourself. If you're going to have to be coherant (and that includes for simple tasks such as DRIVING) at some point later in the day, you probably shouldn't be putting away a half-rack beforehand.

And if you can't stop yourself, you need to see somebody about it.

I could probably be considered an alcoholic... but I at least have standards. No drinking before Noon, that shit's just wrong... it's fair game after that.

But I generally don't drink till about 7-8 at night.

I start drinking beer around 12-2pm on Sundays... cause it's just relaxing ritual.

OF course, no drinking before... or during work.... unless it's like a beer on a lunch break... at a restaurant... on say, a Friday afternoon.

it's ALWAYS afternoon SOMEPLACE in the world :)

though when I was in Vegas for my sisters wedding there were drinks being pushed at me pretty much 24/7, as there always was at least one relative I had not seen in years wanting to kidnap me for a hour or two of gaming and drinks from sun up, to sun set...and lots of drinking time in between >.<

funny thing was that LV is at a much lower altitude, so while I could go for hours without so much as a buzz, my relatives from lower altitudes were smashed fast...

made for great fun.
