Cash cow games, and shovel-ware turn me off big time. They're actively ruining the games industry. I remember when games like BF2 were commonplace, now they're a memory. I haven't bought a COD since COD4 and I don't plan reversing that. I like some degree of personality and fun in my games, not just gunplay that hasn't evolved since 2003. I bought the bungie-produced Halo games, but only because I feel like those actually innovate as opposed to just run and gunning in a linear game with no vehicles or originality. (with the possible exception of Halo 2 >.>)

Difficulty. I understand some people enjoy it, that's fine, but I'm not one of them.
Obviously it can't be too easy either, but I'd rather it stay at the easier end of the spectrum. When I have leisure time, I want to enjoy myself, I readily admit that I'm pretty crappy at games in general and as such, overly difficult games just make me feel inadequate. It makes me feel like I must be incredibly useless if I fail repeatedly at a leisure activity.

Sorry, kinda had to. But seriously QTE's.
Okay, and now seriously - why exactly you don't like QTE's? For me, it's a good way to get through a cutscene with action you won't be able to pull off in gameplay (due to game mechanics), while stile feeling like 'damn. I did it, I'm good', instead off 'I wish I would be doing it'.

OT: Missions with insanely small time limit (like the last battle in Prototype on higher difficulty levels). It's not challenging - it's frustrating.

lack of subtitles (*every* game should include the option to have them on or off)
lack of customisable controls
no PC version. I have nothing against console gamers but I personally cannot justify the cost of a console for the very, very few interesting games on consoles that are not on PC

Fight one red enemy. Now two red enemies. Now two red enemies and a green one. Now two green ones, a red one and a blue one. Etc, etc, etc...

Having no option for the original language with subtitles when a publisher does a terrible job with the English dub.

Escort missions or anything with an arbitrary timer (I don't mind if enemies are closing in but don't put a fucking clock on it and don't make me save things I don't care about). I play games to relax, not get wound up.

picture this: you are playing an amazingly awesome combat game, you are doing great, the story is exciting and interesting. the bad guy turns up, start talking, he starts to unravel the mysteries of the games story, OH! but what is this? you died because you had to press XAYD while pulling the joysticks up and down and in a circle, in under 2 seconds. you are now stuck at this particular game. and that my good sir, is the reason i hate QTEs.

Long, tedious, non-interactive, non-shippable segments meant to introduce new game play elements.

Just about any tutorial really. They slow down the game and often withhold fun mechanics because our heads might explode if we have the option to use an inventory item too early

its interesting I can never decide if its worth me getting a console, I mean sure my setup right now is probably due for an upgrade....but really mabye its worth just saving the money so I can afford more games (and with working full time I sont have to worry about not having neough to play)

there is:

LA nior
Red dead redemption
gears of war series
and its easyer to find slightly older games for console...for some reason

When boss battles are just QTEs. I'm looking at you force unleashed 2

Stealth sections in a non stealth game.

Bad voice acting/dialogue and annoying low health symbols that take up half the screen

Yeah looking at you Just Cause 2, your low health red jam just stays there for the entire firefight, you whore

Oh oh and bad pacing... Fuck you Black Ops

For me, it's a way of totally breaking the flow of the game. Plus, they get tiresome after a while. Take Mercenaries 2 for example - in the first mission you end up hijacking a tank through a QTE; and the first time you see it you think "Fuck yeah, I did that!". But then playing the rest of the game you find out that there's a QTE sequence EVERY SINGLE TIME you hijack a military vehicle, and since Mercs 2 is basically GTA:World War 3, this gets really old really quick.

Not to mention it totally breaks immersion for a game to plaster huge flashing control input commands all over the screen. There is no more violent and abrupt way of breaking the 4th wall and reminding the player that they are, in fact, only playing a computer game.

Multiplayer, plain and simple. If it's multiplayer based it goes from 9 to 2 in my book.

Story.
yeah, yeah, justification time, HL2 and Portal are probably the best at storytelling, and arguably the best games in the industry, but I dont want to turn a game on and stand bolt-still while listening to Person A's life story before I'm invested in the character. Nothing turns me off a game like having to scroll through a list of dialogue options before I can actually play anything.

I see are exaggerating on purpose, but okay, I see your point. Those are badly made QTE's, sure. But that doesn't mean every game makes them insanely hard and ridiculous (God of War series, Heavy Rain, RE 4 etc.). Just like with timed missions I mentioned - there's nothing wrong with the concept - it a problem, when someone screws up the implementation.

Games that care all about graphic's, escort missions, bad inventory and terrible voice acting (I'd rather have none then crap).

Cutscenes that show my character doing something I could have done through gameplay. I'd rather play a game than watch it.
I know I'm by no means the first to say this in this thread, but poor tutorials. How can developers expect players to understand how to play their game if they don't adequately explain how? They're clearly an afterthough for many devs and too often the result is that they're just not effective.

i think they should have like a button in the options menu that removes QTEs, it wouldnt even be that complicated! then you could turn it on/off depending on how you play, well that is my opinion anyway...
