PC gamers. I've been saddled with macs my whole life, but I've gotten to hear my entire life how much "better" everything is on PC. "LOL at trying to play that game without a mouse and keyboard." (Said about ports designed specifically for consoles.) "That game is so much better with mods.... but that game is shit anyways."

I get my troll face on every time I see a thread about how some game is "crap on PC" and that we should boycott it... even though it's readily available on consoles in better form. Or some game doesn't work right out of the box, so there's 50 people telling him to update his drivers, download mods, call the game shit, revert to an earlier patch revision, or call his PC shit... then the next thread over the exact same people are talking about how crappy, limited, and unreliable consoles are or complaining about some other game that they have isn't running well.

Gamers that ***** about how the graphics look.

Maybe it's just that I don't hold graphics over everything else in a game and I care about if it's fun, but I don't get knocking a game and calling it shit if the graphics aren't super special awesome.

Also, gamers that protest too much.

[Rant warning. Seek shelter.]

The ones that endlessly ***** about "Brown, generic, same-y, gun wank, Hitler-loving, racist, sexist" military shooters. Or, you know, they call 'em something LIKE that. The amount of disdain some people have for them, and the way they talk about them, you'd THINK the developers of those games had tried to wipe out an entire race of people.

Okay yeah, I'm exaggerating a bit, but seriously guys, drop it. Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but you need to stop whacking everyone in the face with yours. So you don't like CoD--great. Don't buy it. Why do you have to bother me about it? I don't like Final Fantasy, I don't play 'em. Simple as that. I don't take every possible opportunity to turn something into an insult towards the CoD franchise AND ITS PLAYERS. It's one thing to dislike a franchise, but it's another to dislike everyone simply because they play a franchise. That's dangerously close to racism or sexism; hating someone you've never met simply because they're different then you. You know how many times I've been generalized as an annoying, immature, "Ritalin child" solely because I happen to enjoy FPS shooters games? (Heh.) Well, it's a lot, I'll tell you that.

These people are getting as bad as the PC/console elitists. I mean, really, it's people like these that make me ashamed I'm a gamer. You can't reason with them, and that's the worst part. They seem to think they're on some holy crusade. Like they're protecting people from themselves.

Give me a fucking break.

im going to have to say Xbox users!

They represent the main streaming of MY hobby and it hasnt been good, we got triple A blockbusters that are so homogenised and devoid of creativity ( see call of modern battlefields) and the practice of being charged 3 times for the same game we used to buy once, or DLC as the corporates call it. Lastly the Xbox has caused a massive stagnation of tech as well.

nothing against them personally, just the effect on the industry their influx has had.
I'm sorry, but that's a load of shit. Consoles have nothing to do with corporate greed. People are greedy, and so shall they remain until the end of time. It matter doesn't who's playing or buying games; corporations will always find a way to screw their customers.

This bothers me.

See, I'm primarily a PC-gamer, and I haven't said anything to you. I don't bad mouth other consoles, I don't give my Mac friends grief for the choice of computer. Yet you lump all of us together and say that the group as a whole annoys you. Isn't that kinda the same as the ones of who chastise you for your computer? I beg of you, rephrase your post.

Gender's not relevant, except when it someone makes it relevant. The fact I'm a woman is neither here nor there, until I talk on TeamSpeak and someone acts differently towards me because of it. Unfortunately, 90% of the time it's not the "girl gamers" who are making it an issue.

I had an argument with a couple of friends of mine on that very subject. And about how nintendo actually issued a statement on the subject stating that they don't do smash bros tournaments because that's NOT how they designed the game to be. Convinced one that their "no items, final destination" thought process was ridiculous. The other held strong.

So those types of gamers, leavers, people who take no time to learn the game and how its balance works before claiming something is OP or unbalanced (for example: "Juggernauts are so OP in Tribes Ascend").

The Wykydtron said:
Ok, Darius is legitimately OP.
No he's not. He's easily countered and shut down; Teemo, Kayle, Jax are all champions that can easily accomplish this. All you need to do is take him down early. He was OP on release in the same vein as every other champion that was released. OP simply because people didn't know how to counter him. Hell, if a champion isn't claimed to be OP on release, they're, more likely than not, underpowered.

Agreed, the guys who make a huge deal and act differently because a girl plays video games are annoying as well.

people who refuse to play games with older or not top-tier graphical capabilities. Also, internet douchebags (Xbox live stereotypes).

Not much everyone has their place. If I had to pick I'd say anyone whose gamer tag has the numbers '420' in it or a drug reference ex: GreenScreen420, CronikWarrior, BluntzRgrate420 . It's really dumb to glorify your bad habits you don't see people having usernames like 'icrywhenImasurbate' or 'doesn'tbrushteeth'

I'm not a big fan of self-referential racism like 'mightynegro' (I really saw that one once).

It's less a subculture of gamers and more an attitude, but I dislike people who go out of their way to promote there grudge. For example., the guys who go to every single EA story and post a short jab at EA. They are going out of there way to be angry at EA. It's perfectly fine, fight the power and all, but it still irks me when that much energy is focused on being mad.

You know the stereotypical MOBA player that rages at everyone for being stupid, blames his team for everything and wants everyone to "report random people", even when he's actually playing like an idiot himself?

Yeah. I hate them. Fuck those 14 year olds.

Anyone who uses the word "e-sports". Gaming is not a sport. And this push to try to make "e-sports" a thing just strikes me as people desperate to point to it and say to their fathers "See, dad? It is a legitimate pastime!"
Somehow I feel your opinion is biased to protecitng your own ideas of sport because of your avatar.
However I don't want gaming to be a sport, because I'd find that too elitist.
Understanding their position of wanting gaming to be seen as a legitimate pasttime by people, having a sports fan say that kinda stings. But I understand how they may get in the way of gaming being seen as ok by being so desperate.

I'm personally against any kind of professional playing, and anyone that calls themselves a gamer (beyond simple meaning of someone who plays games) when they play few select franchises. Graphics whores, elitists, most of what has been mentioned already.

The only people I hate with a fiery passion are people who go into Objective games just for kills. It'll be a King of the Hill matchup, but these people just sit on the outskirts shooting everyone, and never make an attempt to capture the hill.

GO INTO A FUCKING SLAYER MATCH IF YOU WANT TO KILL AIMLESSLY!!!!!

But no, they don't, because they want to boost their K/D ratio and get easy kills

'Urgh, Ubisoft put DRM on their games. Clearly, this means I must boycott all their games because they are not worth it. Also, I'm boycotting everythong from EA because a game made by BIOWARE, who is part of EA had a bad ending which made the entire series bad. Also, I'm boycotting Activision because all they do is release Call of Cunting Duty and destroy developers they own and force the remaining team left to work on DLC maps for **** of fuck Duty."

<<

Actually, I somewhat agree with the Activision thing, but for fucks sake. Boycotting does nothing in the gaming world. A lot of people didn't get Prototype 2 because they were boycotting Activision. Now the developer has been shut down, most workers fired, and the remainder working on DLC maps. Jim Sterling (Archer) brought this up in his second to latest video, and I agree completely. By boycotting the game, the developer went under, not enough of copies of the game were sold, and now we'll never get another Prototype game. Because Prototype was GOOD.

And also, a lot of people will miss out on good games because they avoid anything by a single publisher. And if they are avoiding games namely from EA and Activision and Ubisoft, that is a sheer fuck-tonne of good games they're missing out on.

2 types come to mind:
-Stereotypical FPS and sports games only gamer. Any other games are for fags and the like
-GIRL gamer, as in the ones that constantly make a big deal about how they play video games and that it shouldn't be a big deal. Not to be confused with a girl gamer, as in a girl that plays video games (also simply known as "gamer")

Get rid of the "Fox only," part and add in Bridge of Eldin alongside Final Destination and you've got me! I might allow PokeBalls though. PokeBalls kick ass.

die hard fans who take their favorite games way too serious and read way to much in to it. they are similar to the 'artist' because they are praising the games because it makes the feel better and give them the illusion they have a refined taste. i don't care what you like, but don't call me a kid/hater/troll/whatever you say, because i disagree with you and be honest on your preferred games, because sometimes i really have the feeling we didn't play the same game.

people who are blaming everyone when something went bad, and refuse to see that in fact it is their own damn fault. at which they will scream the usual stuff as no-lifer and, which i truly hate, U MOM stuff.

and lastly, the cowards who suddenly feel really high and mighty behind their PC's and start screaming stuff they won't dare to think in person.

I said it elsewhere, but fans, of anything, tend to ruin that thing for me, so I avoid them whenever possible.

The "video games as art" movement makes me want to drive a pen in peoples' eyes as well. Really, people who takes video games (or any form of media, really) with any kind of seriousness are people I generally can't stand. "Camps" tend to annoy me as well; it's the same "you suck simply because you aren't us" mentality that's made politics such a fucking joke.

Quitters. Don't get me wrong, sometimes a person has to leave the game for something urgent(an emergency, late for work, etc). But it annoys me when you're beating your opponent and the douche just decides to quit, denying you a win. Dawn of War 2 had a concede option that lets you quit AND give your opponent a win. An option like that in the game and I still get asshats that simply quit outright, which gives me nothing.

It happens a lot in fighting games. People who can't handle my Swagneto simply quit.
This . But Persona 4 Arena , has the right methode . Anyone that quits too often mid fight will have their name in red , so people know not to play with them . Saw quite a few people with the "red taint" and no one will play with them . Serves them well . Especially when they quit in ranked matches or on the verge of a perfect .
Damn, more developers need to take note of this, that sounds awesome. A shame the Persona games don't interest me.

Elitists and hardcores. Worse, hardcore elitists.

I'm never goung to be as super serious about these things as the hardcores, mostly because I play to have fun and crap. I also really don't care about your superiority complex, elitists.

I'm not saying winning can't be fun, but these guys take the fun out of it by being so fixated.
