Gamers who haven't played Persona 4. Seriously, screw those guys. /Persona 4 fanboy

Also, CoD/Battlefield/Generic FPS Nutballs. And I'm not just talking about the guys that say they can 360 no-scope with no aimbot, I'm talking about anyone who exclusively plays FPS games. They make me want to rip my hair out.

Oh come on, 'icrywhenImasturbate' would be a pretty hilarious username! XD

Metagamers, "You are not allowed to use X or use strategy Y under any circumstances because it is noob", especially the ones that argue that by using X or Y you are ruining their fun.
If X is a weapon put in the game in by the developers, and tactic Y allows you to win while playing the objective and neither breaks any rules, yet you can't enjoy without them being banned, then maybe should wonder if this game is actually for you or that an other game may be more for you.
What if X is a shotgun, and tactic Y is camping in a choke-point the entire match? You'll deserve all the shit you receive. It's not that you are ruining the experience for others; simply winning a match can do that. It's that you are doing so for no other reason than to win. Sitting there for fifteen minutes occasionally pulling the trigger when someone comes by... how can that be fun? There the enjoyment is just racking up easy kills. There are plenty of ways to be cheap without breaking any rules, and it's perfectly acceptable to be annoyed with it.
I agree with you at the core, though. "No Items, Fox Only, Final Destination" metagamers are terrible, but they're doing something similar in the reverse. Whereas the first guy sacrifices fun for victory by weighing things in his favour, the metagamer sacrifices fun for victory by trying to perfectly even the scales (under some false notion that apparently you're only good if you can only play properly in one bland environment against one character with nothing spontaneous to react to, I guess).

So, smashing these two groups together, I present to you the type of gamer that annoys me the most: The Overly Competitive Player. The guys who either aggressively employs unfair tactics, or prohibits any tactic other than the one he uses. The guys who care more about winning than about playing. Everything included above, with the added elitism that comes with thinking they're an MLG Pro. These guys always pissed me off in Halo 3. What's that? You don't use a Sniper/ BR all the time? What do you mean you're not a 50 General? What is this "Social" Playlist you speak of; do you mean Ranked? You like Capture the Flag? That's a weird way of pronouncing Slayer. How can you say Guardian isn't your favourite map?

Probably metagamers, you know the types.

No items.

Fox only.

Final Destination.

Because fun sucks, am I right?
I had an argument with a couple of friends of mine on that very subject. And about how nintendo actually issued a statement on the subject stating that they don't do smash bros tournaments because that's NOT how they designed the game to be. Convinced one that their "no items, final destination" thought process was ridiculous. The other held strong.

So those types of gamers, leavers, people who take no time to learn the game and how its balance works before claiming something is OP or unbalanced (for example: "Juggernauts are so OP in Tribes Ascend").

The Wykydtron said:
Ok, Darius is legitimately OP.
No he's not. He's easily countered and shut down; Teemo, Kayle, Jax are all champions that can easily accomplish this. All you need to do is take him down early. He was OP on release in the same vein as every other champion that was released. OP simply because people didn't know how to counter him. Hell, if a champion isn't claimed to be OP on release, they're, more likely than not, underpowered.
Oh I thought Kayle would could counter Darius too... Apparently I just suck solotop with Kayle DX

Regardless, an ultimate that does a stupid amount of true damage is OP as it is at the moment. All they need to do is make it so it only does true damage at max or high blot stacks. Darius doesn't tower dive a half health squishy, he just strolls in, ults once with maybe one spin or grab to get the kill in a second then cruises back out because he has full tank build and is still Pentakilling all over the place with no AD items.

Hell another squishy killing offtank like Irelia would have to at least consider the fact that a tower could kill her before diving...

Anyway you can't counterpick a Darius when you play Blind. You just get to watch him destroy your entire team instead.

The one thing I really hate about Darius isn't the ult, it's the fact that the hitbox on his grab is broken. You can see it go well out of range of you but apparently he has some sort of physics manipulation powers that magically pulls you to him regardless.

Well this is all a moot point at the moment because from what i've gathered everyone thinks Darius is unfun all across the board. Unfun to play, unfun to play with and unfun to play against.

It must be true because I hardly see him at all now even when he doesn't get banned.

Though one good thing about Darius is that he eventually ruins his own team during longer games if you play him wrong. See that ult steals kills from the AP and AD carries all over the place, eventually causing them to be underfed as hell and consequently lose against the other team's carries. I've seen it happen to enemy teams and had it happen to my own many times.

So OP he makes his own team rage.

As a side note I haven't seen anyone go on at Rengar for being OP yet surprisingly... Could it be that they actually underpowered/balanced a new Champion? Not to imply that Diana or Zyra were OP at all because they weren't but there are usually a decent number of people going on about the new person.

I would like Riot to take a leaf out of DOTA 2's book in that it looks like they have the mentality of "everything is OP, so nothing is OP" Magic: The Gathering style going on.

It's a bit late for that now but hopefully something to look forward too with the reworks of the older characters.

Wouldn't mind a Miss Fortune rework myself. Even if it's just animation/model updating because some Champions are showing their age a bit.

Ever compared Annie to Diana for example? O mai gawd, what's wrong with your face?!

Gamers that let their nostalgia blind them to logic.

They think that old games are all masterpieces, and that newer games all suck. They ignore examples of crappy old games and examples of great new games.

These people make my brain hurt.

The squealing masses of "must be politically correct" idiots I have come across on the internet frequently as of late.

Especially concerning female gamers. Yes, I know they exist. Yes, I know some of them are good. But stereotypes exist for a reason so fuck off with your whiny bullshit. If I get owned by a girl I barely even acknowledge it. Unlike their constant "IMMA GURL PLAYIN DIS GAME AND I JUST KILLED YOU!"

Big fucking deal.

-PC Gaming Elitists.
-Console Gaming Elitists.
-Retro Gaming Elitists.
-Modern Gaming Elitists.
-... basically, Elitists.
-People who dismiss a new game in a franchise because it's not exactly like a previous installment.
-Graphics Whores
-People who need everything to be "mature" and "serious" and won't touch anything that looks "kiddy".
-People who ***** about *insert popular game here* simply because it's popular.
-People who do nothing but ***** about *insert massive publisher here* simply for the sake of bitching about them.

Aaaand, also:

The ones that endlessly ***** about "Brown, generic, same-y, gun wank, Hitler-loving, racist, sexist" military shooters. Or, you know, they call 'em something LIKE that. The amount of disdain some people have for them, and the way they talk about them, you'd THINK the developers of those games had tried to wipe out an entire race of people.

Okay yeah, I'm exaggerating a bit, but seriously guys, drop it. Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but you need to stop whacking everyone in the face with yours. So you don't like CoD--great. Don't buy it. Why do you have to bother me about it? I don't like Final Fantasy, I don't play 'em. Simple as that. I don't take every possible opportunity to turn something into an insult towards the CoD franchise AND ITS PLAYERS. It's one thing to dislike a franchise, but it's another to dislike everyone simply because they play a franchise. That's dangerously close to racism or sexism; hating someone you've never met simply because they're different then you. You know how many times I've been generalized as an annoying, immature, "Ritalin child" solely because I happen to enjoy FPS shooters games? (Heh.) Well, it's a lot, I'll tell you that.

These people are getting as bad as the PC/console elitists. I mean, really, it's people like these that make me ashamed I'm a gamer. You can't reason with them, and that's the worst part. They seem to think they're on some holy crusade. Like they're protecting people from themselves.

Give me a fucking break.
I was going to say something similar by just saying "People who ***** about CoD/Battlefield/*insert modern military shooter here* and the people who play said games all the time", but you said it far better than I could have. Bravo to you, good sir.

PC gamers. I've been saddled with macs my whole life, but I've gotten to hear my entire life how much "better" everything is on PC. "LOL at trying to play that game without a mouse and keyboard." (Said about ports designed specifically for consoles.) "That game is so much better with mods.... but that game is shit anyways."

I get my troll face on every time I see a thread about how some game is "crap on PC" and that we should boycott it... even though it's readily available on consoles in better form. Or some game doesn't work right out of the box, so there's 50 people telling him to update his drivers, download mods, call the game shit, revert to an earlier patch revision, or call his PC shit... then the next thread over the exact same people are talking about how crappy, limited, and unreliable consoles are or complaining about some other game that they have isn't running well.
This bothers me.

See, I'm primarily a PC-gamer, and I haven't said anything to you. I don't bad mouth other consoles, I don't give my Mac friends grief for the choice of computer. Yet you lump all of us together and say that the group as a whole annoys you. Isn't that kinda the same as the ones of who chastise you for your computer? I beg of you, rephrase your post.
I never said anything about anyone chastising me for my computer. (And it wouldn't bother me if I was. I'm never buying a mac again due to their overall shittiness in build quality, price, and durability, not because I'm "missing out" on PC games.) I have seen dozens upon dozens of threads across many sites pertaining the exact same situations I detailed - over and over and over again. One person does not form an overall generalized opinion, which is what this thread is devoted to. And if it bothers you, it's probably because it's a relatively reasonable assessment of many PC gamers out there. Not you necessarily, but the community at large.

The type that try to judge you based on the games you play, you know the kind that think your no longer a real gamer if you like Call of Duty or liking Zelda makes you a sheepish Nintendo fanboy. And the ones who shit talk a game without even playing it or before it even comes out.

I don't get annoyed at other players. As long as they aren't flaming me, I don't care what they do in their gaming rooms. I'm too busy enjoying my hobby to worry about how others enjoy theirs

So we all have that one subculture of gamer that just pisses you off almost every time you see, hear or read what they say. So what is it for you?
I don't know gamer "subcultures" but I have this friend who gets really and genuinely mad when you say something negative about a game he likes.
Once, I showed him Spoony's review of FFVIII (he loves that game) and he left my house and didn't speak to me for over a week :)

His brother is a different story. If you want to play a short casual game of PES with him... you can't. He always plays with the same settings and it takes him 10-15 minutes to set everything. That's often longer than the actual match.

People who either blare loud (and often shitty) music through their headsets, or breathe into their headsets so loudly you'd think they're about to hyperventilate and pass out. It just creates unnecessary and unpleasant noise, and it can be kind of annoying to have to open the menu and mute them in the middle of the game.

Also, elitests. Since this one has been mentioned a lot, I'll be a little more specific: In both Starhawk and Warhawk, I've run in to groups who think that any of their teammates on the ground are useless. They're in the air constantly, and will berate you if you don't do the same. I'm trying to defend a choke point with a tank and some sentries, yet they're just up in the air, focused entirely on dog-fighting other pilots, and not even attempting to lay down some air mines or capture the enemy's flag. They refer to their teammates on the ground as "ground-pounders". Seriously, the way they say it, you'd think it's some sort of racial slur ;P

People who don't understand they should clean their PCs/consoles regularly and then call me to figure out why the damn thing suddenly won't work, overheats and or catches fire.

Anyone who uses the word "e-sports". Gaming is not a sport. And this push to try to make "e-sports" a thing just strikes me as people desperate to point to it and say to their fathers "See, dad? It is a legitimate pastime!"
Somehow I feel your opinion is biased to protecitng your own ideas of sport because of your avatar.
However I don't want gaming to be a sport, because I'd find that too elitist.
Understanding their position of wanting gaming to be seen as a legitimate pasttime by people, having a sports fan say that kinda stings. But I understand how they may get in the way of gaming being seen as ok by being so desperate.
Sports require an aspect of physicality. I'd accept professional wrestling as a sport (though a sport graded on how well you avoid messing up, along the lines of synchronised diving or gymnastics) before "e-sports".

And gaming doesn't need to be justified, any moreso than any other hobby is justified. If you like it, do it. If you don't, don't. If you're too concerned with how other people judge your hobby, you need to get over yourself, not insist that "it's an e-sport". No one is buying that nonsense, except other people who need their fragile egos fluffed.

There's a kid in my class who mentions video games every other breath, regardless of who he's talking to.

When the teacher asked what he did over the summer, he replied "Played video games".

When I asked what his favorite game was, he replied "Saints Row the Third". (This one wounded me a bit)

When the teacher asked what his favorite color was, he replied "Purple because it's the color of Saints Row the Third".

When our Bible teacher asked him what his favorite verse was, he replied "The one from Fallout 3". I had to inform the class that it was Revelation 21:6.

He sat next to me the whole day and every few minutes I had to listen to his most recent amusing anecdote about the Combat Shotgun (Fallout 3) or the Fart in a Jar (Saints Row the Third). Even during a pretty rigorous basketball game during P.E., he raised his voice to inform me of how great Saints Row the Third is.

It got to the point where the Bible teacher (A man who doesn't even play video games) had to tell him to stop mentioning Saints Row the Third.

I still hear "Saints Row the Third" when I'm trying to sleep at night. Dear Lord, make it stop!

[sub]Saints Row the Third... Saints Row the Third... Saints Row the Third...[/sub]

Also he asked me what my favorite Xbox 360 game was and I told him it was Assassin's Creed 2. He asked if it was good, I told him yes, and he said he'd go out and buy it after that day. I felt like I had done well, carefully guiding a lost young soul towards the right path in light. I really felt like a father figure to him.

The next day he told me he bought it. I said "Sweet, how'd you like it?".

"I'm gonna trade it in tonight. The graphics suck.".

I.. But... You...

I couldn't even formulate a response. I just walked away.

Whatever type of gamer he is, that is my answer.

I remember back when I was a little kid, there were always these kids that would spread rumors about secrets in games and then claim they'd done the secret thing/ had the secret item. One kid said that if you got Charizard to level 102, he evolved into a mega Charizard with 3 heads.
Another kid I used to hang out with a lot would get a little bit too into games. He once played through the entire original N64 Star Fox game in 10 minutes, and the whole time he would literally say exactly what the characters said, about 3 seconds in advance. Kind of ridiculous. He also would get overexcited sometimes and control joysticks with his tongue. It worked, too.

People who don't play the game for fun. Games are designed to be fun for all involved. If you just get serious and then insult other people for not conforming to high standards, you're doing it wrong.
