I always use barbarian, i like the raw power, and swinging big axes chopping people to bits..

I can never get the hang of the magic stuff, it takes to long..

I usually start with a basic swordsman, then jerry-rig him to do everything.

Magic users of some sort are the best in my opinion there's just something awesome about summoning allies, or calling down lightning that can't be beat. Failing that I'll always try to go for something that can heal.

I like mages mainly ,but only ones that get pets; like Warlocks or Summoners. I just like the idea of having back up if I run out of mana or MP.

Sniper/archer or Assassin/spec-ops

I usually go for Loads of dmg, and low hp.

And I've noticed I always tend to play female characters in games. Don't really know why.
Must be a Freudian thing...

Depends on the game. If we talk about MMO's I usually pick the mage. If we talk about games like Fallout 3 I pick the guy who can shot you between the eyes from a mile away with a 9 mm. In most JRPG's I take the guy with the coolest weapon and skills.

I usually go for the agile/ stealthy/ thieve/ arhcer type. I like magic users and quick small sword and dagger characters too. I don't really go for the warrior type so often, I find them to be too limited.

As for types of magic:

For the elements: I tend to go with Ice, or if its available, Water.

For other stuff: Summoning Creatures to do the work for you is always fun.

Light vs Dark: I prefer to be on the side of righteousness, but usually RPGs only offer Dark magic and have no option for Light magic at all.

I always pick the typical brute type class, tanking and then killing the hell out of anything in front of me. Also, always swords.

I like to use Fighter-type classes. The ones who primarily melee, but aren't tanks, and have some magical/ranged/speed ability to supplement their physical strength. I've never liked using tank classes because there's no real strategy to using them. It's just go over there and kill everything, or go over there and have everything attack you while we use our ranged attacks to kill them.
Occasionally I like to use Mage or Ranger type classes...just to mix things up a bit. But really, anything with a sword that can use Magic at the same time.

I assume we are talking about only video games here. In that case, I tend to go for power. I stay in one place an unbearably long amount of time, building up points and power so that when I move on, I'm far more powerful than I need to be to conquer that area. I overwhelm my enemies with unbelievable power and incredible superior battle tactics. A decent amount of speed is always good, too.

In retrospect, I play RTS games the same way. I always build up the biggest force I can stand to expend the patience on before I even think about starting in on the goals of my mission, then run ROUGH FUCKING SHOD on my enemies.

when I played WoW, I loved my Retribution Paladin.

Bash things with a large hammer (or sword), and if needed, save the tanks ass by switching to healing gear and throwing off a few heals, or grabbing a Shield and taking over tank duty if someone else pulled aggro.

I had gear for all occasions, and didn't mind re-speccing if needed for a raid.

But, I mostly loved bashing things with big hammers

Take a guess. (Hint: look to the left)

I also like fast, lightly-armed classes like rangers or rogues/thieves.

Me too. But too often, when I'm about to take my huge force out to fight, I get nuked.

The fearsome Banana Phone style of fighting!
Or a offensive mage. I'm going with the former.
Damn right, my Bananarangs inspire dread into the hearts of my enemies!
