A skill in this thread is defined as an application of knowledge and dexterity.

An example of a skill would be speaking a language you learned besides your mother tongue, and flying a plane. Or it could be smaller like juggling or drawing.

I feel like there's a whole world things to be good at so what is stopping me from doing just that? So post skills you have and you think are pretty cool, and if you're learning anything. I hope this thread kicks off.

I'm learning French...still.

I'm still learning how to write film reviews.

Those are the main two, I would think.

I did french from grade 1 through 6 in my old city, so I know some basic french. I think that sentence says, "I speak french, corn (wtf) i do not speak good french.". Probably a "but" instead of corn...

It's "but". Corn would be maize.

Trying to learn to draw, play guitar, everything I should have learned in all the school I was too gimped to go to. But it's going poorly.
Mostly because I gave up and stopped giving a fuck ages ago.

I'm quite handy with network security, medicine, chemistry and martial arts.

EDIT: I can also play guitar to a somewhat high standard, but I'm not sure that's 'useful'.

I'm currently in the process of broadening my horizons, may not seem like a large goal but reading, watching films of worth, and etc.

I'm also reacquiring my old love of drawing. People used to say I had a talent for it when I was young but I drew, almost non-stop. Now...well since I moved out on my own I just haven't found the time. Lately I've been doing a exercise where I grab random plates and cups and cans and such and make a sill life and draw it.

I've also started practice writing comic book and movie scripts. My current way of doing this is to take short panel comics such as penny arcade, calvin and hobbes, dilbert, etc and try and write a script for it. I planned on doing something similar for Metropolis but, haven't had the free time lately.

I've ALSO started exercising at an alarming pace. Every day no matter how early I get up. I do 30 pushups, 30 situps, and 30 leglifts. It may not seem like alot to most people but I'm 5'5" and 240 lbs. Since its starting to warm up I'm going to start running. My goal is to hold this routine for 30 days. The purpose if two fold, one to build up a boxing body. I want to spar and train at my local boxing gym. But the coach said I would have to get to middleweight range before he would even start training me. So..65 lbs and I'm there!

Secondly as I will be starting school in film next fall. I'm gathering footage and stills of me doing my routine and such. I'm planning on putting together a documentary for a testing of my editing and story telling skills.

I've had almost 2 years of experience doing audio editing (with Audacity) and video editing with Magix and Vegas so probably not much I'm going to learn there until I start school.

TL;DR I'm doing everything I can to prepare for school which is 8 boring months away. Also I want to get laid and box, so exercise!

I can speak, read and write in french and I'm a qualified first aider. I also spent a few days at the controls of a 40ft motor cruiser on a trip around the south coast of England, so I guess it counts.

Beyond all my school quals etc, I've been trained and accredited as a Road Crash Rescuer. Besides the actual rescue side of it is awesome, using the spreaders and cutters on a car is one of the most enjoyable things I've ever done.

And it is really tough actually putting these skills into practice, but it is one of -the- most worthwhile things I've done with my life

I tried to learn French, but my teacher sucked... now I'm learning Lovecraftian!

OT: If your looking for something, I'm your man! I have an uncanny ability of finding things that have been lost...

Not sure how this is applicable in a life/death situation though...

I am a writer of radio dramas/TV scripts/screenplays/script fiction (scripts that are read rather than filmed. Good for getting low-literacy people interested in reading).

I also am a stage manager who also handles sound/lights/vision in theatre or at live events.

I play piano, trombone, cello and bass guitar.

And in the afternoons I'm an athlete who competes at national level in track and field.

Oh, and I am a fully-qualified head trainer for a football club where I help assess, treat and monitor all the injuries.

Build and maintain a computer
I don't know if driving stick is a very rare skill...but if it is, all the better for me. I think everyone should learn how to drive manual, just in case they ever find them in a situation where they need to drive one.

First aider, and learning to be a Pharmacologist (doing my masters), so sort of a drug expert hehehe.

Otherwise played guitar and have grade 8 qualifications, pretty good techy stuff, specially with apple computers and hardware.

I have learnt a huge amount about political and policy theory just out of interest and is one of my favorite past times. Same with philosophy.

Also really good at mental arithmetic

I'm learning bass guitar. Its been a slow process since I'm still trying to get more comfortable with it and I practice scales on and off.

I'm also a concert photographer and I have been doing that for three years. Not many people in my town can do it so I feel thats a pretty good skill.
