What videogame music can be up to classic music?

My friend has a girlfriend who's mostly into classical music and is a cellist herself. She's not into pop music, likes some rock, but is mostly dismissive of anything other than classical music (Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, etc.). She's slightly elitist about it.

My friend showed her some videogames' music, but she found it too simple and repetitive. She doesn't like the "bleeps and blops" of retro games. However, she did like the flute stuff from Ocarina of Time. She thought videogame music isn't sophisticated enough to match old classical music, and I'm sure most people would say not much of any other music is.

I was hoping to find some videogame soundtracks that I could tell my friend about, to impress her. I've already recommended Psychonauts, Hitman: Blood Money; Halo; Too Human; Silent Hill; Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, Metal Gear Solid, to him.

She might reject everything, but I'm awaiting his results. I'm sure her remarks will be interesting.

Basically anything by Nobou Uematsu can very well be up to snuff. Personally, I would recommend the Final Fantasy VI and X soundtracks.

Assassin's Creed has some pretty good music, and I enjoy Dead Space's soundtrack as well.

Oh and Spelunky has some pretty sweet music as well, it takes retro music and makes it more awesome

Morrowind's soundtrack is quite good. And Vampire's the Masquerade: Bloodlines has the best dark/ambient sound i know (very immersive if you're playing the game). Also anything made by Frank Klepacki [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Klepacki] for the C&C series.

Demon's Souls has an amazing soundtrack, so does Final Fantasy 13.
Now if only the two were fun games...

OT: Mask of the Betrayer has a good soundtrack, but it is not avalible to buy.

The Elder Scrolls theme, specifically the Morrowind version (the simplest one). The upbeat Oblivion one is also good, but wears thin after a while. The Skyrim one... hmmm... too guttural.

Music-wise hrm? Dragon Age and Dragon Age 2 both have fairly nice soundtracks, as does World of Warcraft. And indeed, as mentioned before, Nobuo Uematsu compositions are good.

Demon's Souls was good once you got used to it, unforgiving but fun to play. FF13 was ok too, just dragged on a bit.

There are a few great tracks from RuneScape that utilize classical instruments. Off the top of my head, the best track I can think of is called 'The Void Stares Back.'

Keep those suggestions coming! Forgot about Shadow of the Colossus, gorgeous stuff. We need to melt this girl's heart!

I've recommended Super Meat Boy to him too, let's see if at least one retro-sounding soundtrack will do it.

Santuary of Zi'tah

Both beautiful and atmospheric themes.

Mass Effect 2

Suicide Mission

A big part of what made the finale to the game so epic feeling.
