Canada- insuline
Sorry to inform you, but a Romanian, Nicolae Paulescu, invented insulin. :p

Also, more notably, the jet engine by Henri Coandă.

Here`s a list of all the other things invented/discovered by Romanians:

BTW> Bell was a Canadian citizen, living here when he invented the Telephone.

Some others are Plexiglas, basketball, polyethylene bags, electron microscope, Java (programming), insulin, IMAX, pacemaker, zipper, kerosene, and walkie-talkies. (some of which have already been mentioned) The lightbulb is a disputed one.

Wow...

I'm German, so this could become a pretty long post ;)

alternating current

first computers (Z1 to Z4, not PCs)
The first inventor to use alternating current was a Frenchman and the first working computer was actually made by an englishman.

(Fun fact: the worlds first programmer was a woman. Presumably she was told to re-enter the kitchen after she was done writing the punch card.)

And for the guy who claimed evolution, there is a difference between inventing something and discovering something.

evolution.

beat that.

I suppose you'll claim gravity and infrared radiation while you're at it.
no. italy laid the groundwork for gravity while germans invented InfraRed radiation.
*facepalm*

What I was getting at was that those things were discovered and quantified. Saying they were "invented" is ridiculous, as it infers that they didn't previously exist.

if anything the theory of these things were invented first before becoming fact.

Insulin is disputed too apparantly, but what I don't get is why the guy who 'actually' invented it never revealed it to the scientific community for several years...

Dude, the difference engine is a calculator that can work with polynomials, not a freely-programmable computer.
That´s is like claiming the chinese invented the computer, because that´s where the first abacus showed up.
