My country invented Nuclear Weapons. You're welcome, Israel!

And...I'm actually just going to stop there.

Australia - Pavlova, hats with corks dangling off them and home and away
Aussies made the Pavlova

Yeah Right.

New Zealand is the creators of that dessert.

We also were responsible for bungee jumping, jet boats and trench warfare!

(I'm serious about the the trench warfare thing, just check the NZ land wars)

on the subject of the world's first programmable electronic computer let me present one of the great unsung heros of history Mr Tommy Flowers

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tommy_Flowers

Ah yes, that man is indeed more important than most people give credit for.
But as far as I remember, Flowers was just involved in builing the first entirely ELECTRONIC computing machine (which is still really impressed, no doubt). But as far as turing-completeness and programmability goes, Zuse still takes the cake.

New Zealand: Zorbing, bungy jumping, the Aquada, tranquilliser gun, refrigerated shipping, continuous fermentation method of brewing, the electric fence, the jet boat, the the disposable syringe, aerial topdressing, jogging (as a fitness/training method), Navman, the referee whistle, Peter Jackson, fishing kite, spreadable butter.

And of course the most important: The Pavlova. New Zealand's beautiful national dessert.

The Netherlands invented the stock market (East India Company was one of the very first to use stocks). It made us able to build big companies in our golden age.

I don't know if we invented the polder, but we mastered it, that's for sure.

The first winner of the Nobel prize of Chemistry was Dutch - He came up with the idea of carbon tetrahedrons. Although he didn't technically invent them, he discovered/figured it out.

We also invented insignificant things like the telescope, the microscope, the ECG, the CD-ROM, the Submarine, among other things.

Also, we found Australia first :>

Australia - Pavlova
No.

Pavlova was invented in New Zealand. The first Australian recipe only appeared at least 8 years after a recipe was published in New Zealand. A chef in Wellington invented the Pavlova in 1926/27. The person who was documented to have first made it in Australia did so in 1935.

Glad to have educated you on pavlova.
