Let's pick a few highlights from the UK

The Internet, Trains, Pencils, the Diesel Engine, Metal Bridges, Fire Extinguishers, Rubber Bands, Lawnmower, Stamps, Tin cans, Mousetraps, Corkscrews, Stainless Steel, Vaccines, Tanks, Fighter Aircraft, Film Projectors, Calculus, carbonated soft drinks, plastic,

Plus the sports: Football (soccer), Cricket, Rudgy, Tennis, Table Tennis, Netball

That's all just england as well, technically if you counted Scotland and Wales which are part of the UK, there are quite a few more.

Also for the people who claim that America invented freedom and liberty, thats quite impressive given that you didn't outlaw slavery until after pretty much every western nation ;)

The CD. The microscope. The artificial kidney. We also discovered the existence of bacteria, although that's not an invention, it was still pretty world changing.

Even though these have been corrected already, as a Scottish-Canadian I feel the need to correct people again.

1) The Light-bulb that we commonly use today (other ones are not used) was invented by a Canadian and then sold to Edison for $500 I believe

2) The Telephone was invented by Alexander Graham Bell who was born in Scotland and then moved to Canada

3) The Automobile was invented in several stages from several countries. The first steam powered vehicle was invented in France, the first Electric car was invented in Scotland, and the first gas powered car was invented in Germany.

The moral of the story is that just because you popularized something doesn't mean you invented it America :p.

p.s. Canada invented poutine, you're welcome everybody with delicious high blood pressure.
