Supposedly Chinese travelers had visited America after the Vikings and before Columbus. Look it up on google if you're interested.
they were the earliest humans that came from Africa that came to asia that went over to alaska and over to America and became the indians we know today

I am german...we invented pretty much everything. The MP-3, Heroin, the General purpose machinegun, the Cruise Missile, USAs and USSRs Space Programs, the Atomic Bomb (to a degree, since german scientists fled and helped the US on the Manhatten Project), the Otto Motor, the Diesel, the Jet Engine (altho a brit invented it AT THE SAME TIME), the Jet Aircraft...
Or do we only count stuff directly invented inside the country...that would require me to do some digging.

Canada-Take your pick really...paint roller,basketball,hockey,zipper,etc.

I love the saying "Its more american than baseball and apple pie" because Baseball is a derivative of a French game and apple pie is from england so anything said could be more american than those two

btw wikipedia has pretty good lists for this, most major inventions mentioned are probably listed to your country. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Norwegian_inventions here's the norwegian one, pretty damn short, but it is also verry lacking, does not mention we invented the spray can for instance..
anyways here's the american one:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:American_inventions
scottish one:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scottish_inventions_and_discoveries
the english list:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:English_inventions

oh the norwegians also invented the grenade harpoon. so we can nearly be blamed for whales nearly going extinct.. <.<

Quite a lot has been said in this thread so I can't really think of what else the US invented.

I'm just going to say something random that I could be wrong about: Cheesy Poofs, Cheetos, whatever you want to call them.

But one thing I would like to point out, if you don't have a country listed on your profile and you say something, I'm automatically going think it is the US that did it, unless you state the country.

-telephone
Wrong. Alexander Graham Bell, Scotland.
Wrong. Between 1860 and 1861 Phillip Reis (Germany) invented a device for electrical voice transmission and called it "Telephon". Alexander Graham Bell improved the device which resulted in the commercialy usable communuication between telephones in 1875.

Do your homework before you lecture people.
The invention of the telephone is a clusterfuck of claims, counterclaims and bullshit. Apparently Bell was first to patent the design, so he gets credit.

Hey, at least I'm fighting in Germanys corner for the automobile!

There's a lot of things that were invented in Australia, but they tend to be useful if somewhat underwhelming. Like, for example, a new type of single serve ketchup packet that although very useful is something that you use once, there in destroying it, and then throw in the bin. So I'm going with Scotland. Although there are many Scottish inventions, the Television is one of the most famous.

Yeah, I'm going with Wikipedia on this and say that America invented the Television. The link is in a post not far above this.

Instant Replay, Walkie-Talkies, Standard Time, Zippers, Hockey, Pacemakers, Insulin, Paint rollers, Wonderbra and the symbol of an idea itself... the Light Bulb!

You can't step to this!
Canada didnt invent the lightbulb.
Sorry, I should clarify... The incandescent lightbulb from which all modern light bulbs are based off of was invented in Canada by Henry Woodward and Mathew Evans. They then sold their patent to Thomas Edison...
You just blew my mind good, Canadian sir. My American beer-drinking hat is off to you.

I love how a bunch of people think Thomas Edison invented the light bulb and they think it's an American invention.

It is not. Light bulbs have been around for longer than that. Edison invented the first lasting, reusable, and otherwise feasible light bulb. He took something that was already around and made it actually useful. But that's not the same as "inventing" it.

We (Americans) did, however, invent the microwave oven. How? We took RADAR (a British invention) and used the radiation to cook shit with it.

Sweden and Finland, Sweden: Safety match, DYNAMITE, the revolver (by a priest), at the same time as the colt was made in the states, three point seatbelt, turbo (by volvo and saab respectively)+ hot blondes. Finland: The sauna and the sled, which at the time (for about 2000 years) was the worlds fastest vehicle, TAKE THAT BLACKBIRD. Oh yeah the GSM system, which is used in basicly every mobile phone in the world

These [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scottish_inventions]

Not the Telephone or the TV though. Bell copied the idea and Logie Baird's version came after a less successful, yet still technically "televisiony" one.

God bless Cap'n Fry and the SS QI!

*salute*

Also, technically we "invented" Dolly the Sheep, the first successfully cloned animal (I think). If I recall, her stuffed body is in the museum just down from my University. Pretty cool.
