In recent history it's pretty simple: the Iraq war. A horrible and pointless war with millions of deaths and that only costs a lot of money. But I do not know enough about American history to say what was the biggest screw/up they ever made.

Well I can tell that you are British and haven't studied the reasons for our seperation. The British Parliament was, at that point, corrupt and was not representing the colonies fairly.

I actually think America is more a daughter that England had with 13 of its colonies, and England an abusive mother that, despite not wanting to be as tyranical as she was in our life, we actually took alot of her doctrines and philosphy, and have sleazed our way to the top, much to the disdain to england, and alot of non-American, people form english speaking people on this site.
