Doom. There's something immensely satisfying about being invincible and shooting rockets left right and center. It's just a shame I needed to type idkfa EVERY TIME i needed more ammo. Still, gibletizing everything in your path is pretty cool.

For me it was Age of mythology when I was having trouble in one mission where you had to keep Prometheus and his forces at bay until you could rescue your allies. I kept losing so I spammed the titan cheat and had like 20 titans holding the forces off. It was fun to watch.

The first codes I entered were:
it is a good day to die
make it so
glittering prizes

Anyone remember those?
That game was one of my first, right up there with the game that used
A, B, B, A, C, A, B, START.

Anyone? Anyone? Name that cheat code.

I think for me it was Civ2. Struggling way back in the day to actually beat those 'oh so good' AI's (Hey, I was young!), there was always that final release, where you turned cheat mode on, and plunked down a huge stack of tanks next to the enemy capital.
Holy hell, spot on. It was Civilizations 2 for me as well! I must've been young as hell, since I didn't understand a single mechanic of that game.

There are two cheat codes that have been installed in my brain permanently:

DNKROZ
DNSTUFF
Yep. Didn't they actually have them in the manual?

For me it was Mechwarrior 2. I could probably remember some of those codes if I wanted.

Just outright telling would be boring, so I'll give some hints:

iddqd
idkfa

Who remembers these two?
Yeah, that's probably it for me too. Doom's creepy atmosphere scared the crap out of me (at the age of 9 or 10), and the codes made me feel safer. I think it took me over 6 years to stop using cheat codes with my games.

EDIT: On second thought, it might actually have been Sonic 2, but it's not like I didn't also play that game legitimately.
