Do comics count? Because in that case, the last book I finished was Deadpool Classic Part 5, which was pretty damn awesome because, y'know, Deadpool. Interesting story arc to boot.

If not, then the last book I've finished was book three of the Wheel of Time series, The Dragon Returns. It was pretty damn epic, though I like book 4 more already thanks to Perrin's character arc.

Well it did. And yes, any philosophy book IS life-changing as they do teach you a new way of life as you said, however it is up to you to take that way of life. I'm saying that Atlas Shrugged made me take the Objectivist path of life.
Which, you know, is completely idiotic. Nothing personal, of course, but objectivism fails as hard and for the same reasons as hardcore communism does; humans as a species are just not compatible with it. Rand's philosophy is completely nonsensical, has pretty much zero grounding in real life. It's a laissez-faire utopia, Rand's personal wet dream, but nothing more than that.

The only good point she does raise is in her other book, The Fountainhead, in which she states that the self is the most important thing a person has. That makes perfect sense of course, no one else but you can live your live for you, no one else can be you for you. So you shouldn't betray that self, sell it, change it for the sake of someone else. And that's something I can most definitely get behind.

Other than that, ***** be cur-azy.

The last book I read was Skulduggery Pleasant by Derek Landy.

I only made it through due to how awesome the character Skulduggery Pleasant was, the story and other characters were either annoying or meh.

Though I'm currently reading Unseen Academicals by Terry Pratchett which so far is quite good (As long as you like the wizards of the discworld)

(Disregard the comic section of your post I'm not arguing against that)

To be fair, in Atlas Shrugged she did say that the self was also important...BUT: Every religion has no grounding in real life but that doesn't stop people from believing in it does it? Games aren't real life but that doesn't stop the enjoyment of one. However I see Objectivism as a PERSONAL philosophy, not a "Everyone be this way" philosophy

Descartes' Meditations.
First two meditaitons are good, but after that he proves that he was really getting baked in that oven of his.

You heard the topic! What was the last book that you finished and what did you think of it? For me, it was Elder Scrolls: The Infernal City, by Greg Keyes. I was expecting it to suck horribly like most video game novels but it was surprisingly good. I am working on the second book in the series now but then sadly that is it.
-EDIT-
I have now finished the second book, Lord of Souls. Not as good as the first and the ending felt unfortunately rushed. Now I am sad there are no more books in the Elder Scrolls universe.
I wasn't aware of Elder Scrolls books, that's cool. I like to read video game novels before a new game comes out to get me excited. I am current stuck on Gears of War Anvil Gate. I had just got done reading the first three so I was continuing the series but then I stopped playing Gears 3 and started playing Skyrim and now my head just isn't in that Gears state of mind anymore, so it has become really hard to finish. Plus it just seems really slow compared to the previous ones.

But Rand didn't mean it like that, she was just like "This is how society should be, like totally!" So how are you using it?

The last book I finished was Eating Animals. Pretty interesting stuff on factory farming and animal welfare. Currently reading The Odyssey by Homer. I love greek mythology so once my exams are done I should be able to finish that.

2001: A Space Odyssey.

Really enjoyed it. A classic I had been meaning to read for ages.

I finished Taint of the Black Brigade [http://www.amazon.com/Taint-Black-Brigade-Chronicles-Abraxis/dp/0786955074] not too long ago, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Except for the Riding into the Sunset [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/RidingIntoTheSunset] feel about the ending.

I give it a recommendation.

I skimmed through Nicomachean Ethics by Aristotle but the last book I read in its entirety was the Communist Manifesto. Yes those were for classses.

If you mean what was the last book I read for fun I think it was A Game of Thrones by George RR Martin so I could get back into that world and be ready for A Dance with Dragons.

Should've said that yeah, I use Objectivism as a personal philosophy, and don't agree with Rand on some points.

Almost finished with Snow Crash. Terribly paced, but has bits of awesome sprinkled throughout.

Actually finished last book was probably WWW: Wake, by Robert Sawyer, which now means I must read the other three books. Damn you, Sawyer!

Game of Thrones: Clash of Kings

friggin awesome

Im waiting for my friends uncle to be done the third so I can jump into the next. however I might just buy the entire series for myself and help support the author who went writing these for a number of years without the deserved attention until the HBO special.

I'm near the end of Great Expectations by Charles Dickens.

I...do not like it. Not one bit.

doomwyte by brian jacques. pretty good, didn't have the big battle that his books usually do but it did have a good mystery that if you where pretty familiar with the redwall lore you could figure out where everything was.
