I think its funny that of all the times I've came near death, possible teen pregnancy is still the scariest moment in my life.

Ha.
Hey, that's freaking scary. I think I'd cry if I had one of those scares and found out that I indeed had a bun in the oven. I'm not responsible enough to be responsible for another individual's livelihood.

Atleast my trust in the Lifestyle's brand is still intact.

I was a Junior in high school at the time, so that shit would've really crushed me. Now, the outlook isn't as scary, but at the time, it was one of the scariest things that could've happened.

Yeah, that would not have been pleasant.

Drowning as a 4 maybe 5 year old. I was gripped with fear and just as I thought "this is it" someone lifted me from the water.
I'm still not very fond of water.

Same happened to me...twice, really put me off the beach.

I nearly drowned when I was around 3, my dad pulled me out of the water by my hair. How I didn't go bald from that is beyond me.

I've gathered from this thread that the average gamer is a horrible swimmer and is very prone to drowning.

Me too, at the kiddie amusement park "Sesame Place". Oddly, most of my hobbies revolve around the water. My scariest moment would probably have been when I thought I was lost in the middle of nowhere while SCUBA diving.

Having an RPG zing arms-reach over my head while 2 other guys were spraying AK fire at me. Then speeding down a road for about 2 miles with several more ambushes waiting for us.

Seriously, one of those things I'd never thought would happen to me in my life. Like a fucken movie.

Not really, I swim quite well, and even a lot of non-gamers can't swim. (my class of 17-yr olds can't even keep themselves afloat, only one person and myself are the only ones who can swim!) plus most of the anecdotes above were when they were under 7 if you've read most of them through, not a lot can swim at that time. hydrophobia also is a pretty common fear too, like cynophobia(dogs), astrophobia(lightning), arachnophobia(spiders) and acrophobia(height... I think, I think I might be mistaken)

This thread should be retitled "When Natural Selection Fails".
When Natural Selection Fails:

Native Australian attempts to break into my house (someone already has said something similar) - a house that has a reputation for... psychosis (there were four of us and we'd all been in and out of various detention facilities for violence related incidents). Said individual does so while I am sitting meditating in the front room. There is enough ambient light in there to see me, and the TV program I was watching.

...yeah... natural selection failure right there.

Scariest time for me would have to be me, tied to a cold bench, and some hot pokers.

Woah... just having a sense of deja-vu, as if I've posted that before...

In my defense I was wearing jeans and tennis shoes. Not exactly light weight when wet.

First time i was 3, second time 5.
Sorry if my infant swimming skills were not up to par.
Funny thing is second time wasn't my fault so again, ouch.

When I was younger, and a heck of a lot dumber, I had a distempered partner with a penchant for ceaseless criticism and minor physical assaults. Never hurt me, so I let it slide for a lot longer than I shoulda.
Until said partner made every effort to strangle me in an empty, dark parking lot one New Years' Eve with absolutely no rhyme, reason or warning. I have no idea what would have happened if the Ex hadn't showed up to drag him off me.

Gah.
Besides that, I'd have to say the time I was "mugged" in Toronto by the friendliest bandit you've ever met. He only took ten bucks, but he apparently REALLY needed it. Scary/intense sort of fella, polite but for the fact that he wasn't taking no for an answer.
It's a weird story.

Beyond that, I've led a very safe and prepared life. All's well.

I'd say getting lost in the forest when I was 8 year old... we were supposed to stick in a group, but somewhere along the way I lost my group and then you suddenly stand there. It was getting dark fast and you didn't see any sign of civilization anywhere. The ideas kicked in of having to spend the night in a dark forest on my own... the ideas of running in circles, every direction suddenly looking the same. I'm not sure how I got out, but I'm thinking I got lucky at a point.

I've never been that scared ever since...

Not too long ago, some guys attempted to rob a bank near my school, and got away i think. Anyway i went to go check it out and while driving there i didn't realize i had crossed into the perimeter of the crime scene (there wasn't any tape or anything). Once i figured it out, i tried to get out before anyone saw me, but a cop stopped me and screamed at me for like 5 minutes, and almost arrested me. probably one of the scariest couple minutes of my life

hydrophobia also is a pretty common fear too

I don't think it's hydrophobia(I could be wrong too) I think it starts with an o though.

Edit: nevermind you're right.

Pardon my cynicism but... a dark, empty parking lot, New Year's Eve, and your ex just happens to show up (to a dark, empty parking lot) at the right time and saves you ? That's one hell of a coincidence.
