mine was Unreal Tournament (the first one) through dial-up, it was largely unplayable but I still loved it, getting a head-shot when you have a 3 second delay feels even sweeter lol.

Then I found magical zero ping servers which made things all better.

Not my first online experience but one of my faves, I loved the strange alternate verse with the super cows!

Counter Strike was the first but brief online experience, got bored pretty quick and moved onto Crimson Skies.

I was a little slow on the online multiplayer thing, mine was Quake III Arena. A friend and i installed it on every computer in our schools network in secret. Mostly cos our school was running a T1 line.
How many people played it? I imagine it to be like in south park when they are all playing COD5

COD 4, because I'd finished the single player and decided to try out this new-fangled(to me) Online thing.

A MUD called Leviathan, sitting out under a giant tree with a wizard who conjured a picnic feast into existence. It was all text, but rather magical nonetheless.

It was actually world of warcraft for me... And it took 244 days of three and a half years. Rofl. I feel like an addict because I still keep up to date with all the info on it...

I was in college still so about 12 years ago, and it was a game called Netstorm. It was fairly advanced for the time, but, by today's standards, I'm sure it would be lame. I had a buddy going to school back in my home province, and he couldn't find anyone to play. So, he sent me a copy. It had this rudimentary game lobby and we were constsntly fighting with connectivity and firewalls, but it was a pretty good time.

Runescape was my first online game experience. And I always though that that game had a much worse rap than it deserved. I found it quite decent for it's cost. It actually lasted longer for me than WoW did.
