It usually happens to me a couple of times whenever I play a Zelda game.
I persevere, though and keep going until I can figure it out by myself, so then when I'm done I feel oh, so satisfied.

Assassins Creed 2. I was DETERMINED to climb a certain church tower in Venice. I spent an hour trying to climb it and I just couldn't figure out how to reach the top.

I was furious and felt very silly when I found out you learn a technique a little later to help you climb the thing.
The same exact thing happened to me!Just ask the people in my xbox live party,I was screaming "HOW THE *fudge:)D)*AM I SUPPOSE TO DO THIS!lol

Basically any time I played a PS2 platformer, ever.
This is due to the fact I can never find my way around the awfully cryptic levels.

The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Time.
I had to get past and abyss in one of the dungeons.

I haven't gotten past that abyss yet.
It's been more than 6 years.

GTA IV, The Lost and Damned...
When Ray sends his men after you and you have to kill all of them...
Five cars with four mobsters in each all firing SMGs at you while your riding your piss-ass motorcycle...
I still haven't done it. It's really a matter of luck though... I got through the original IV and TBoGT without cheating, but TLaD is just annoying.
I just got lucky in that mission. I managed to blow up one of the cars in such a way that I took out two others, before killing the last guys with relative ease.

OT: GTA: SA in the level where you blow up the vans with the RC plane. That level can SUCK. MY. BALLS.

I hate to say this. I really hate to say this. But in LoZ: Phantom Hourglass, I could not figure out how to stamp that symbol onto my sea chart. I spent forever trying everything: pressing every button and touching every place on the screen. Finally, I decided to give up, but I didn't want to lose my progress in the temple by turning the game off, so I decided to put the DS in sleep mode by closing it. That's when it struck me. I closed the DS and opened it.

The symbol was on my sea chart.
I was almost more pissed when I solved that one accidentally then when I couldn't figure it out. It is still one of the coolest things I've ever done on my ds though.

The first (and I'll admit only time) I tried out Fallout 2, I couldn't figure out how you were supposed to make it through the first area of the game. You basically had a turn based pissing contest with many, many enemies one after another (all of whom were roughly the same stats as you) and you only had a few stimpacks.

Devil May Cry 3, the weapon Nevan.
No matter how much I persisted I could never ever make that weapon act anywhere close to as awesome as it seems capable of being.
I was never any good at Guitar Hero or Rock Band past medium either..
I guess there's just not enough Rock n' Roll in my soul..
Its okay, we're all here for you
*hug*
*cough*
anyway
OT:
wiimote quick time events.
FINALLY got the hang of those sonsabitches and thier finicky recognition.

EDIT:most turn based rpg's and the rotations I put my characters in.
now I know I use [healer, fighter,magic/specials,item user] as an unstopable combo.

Freaking WWII Online: Battleground Europe, trying to fly those damn, planes. Well the flying part was easy, it's getting kills in dogfights which was freaking outlandishly difficult.

Oh I have a moment!

Does anyone remember that horrible water temple in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time where there's a mystery block behind a treasure box in one of the rooms. Anyway you have to play a certain song to make the block move but I never even saw the dumb thing because it was hidden in the shadows and sort of looked like an innocent floor panel. *flails* I actually had to look this one up. *facepalm*

A lot of the Portal puzzles just pissed me straight off when I first played them. Nowadays, they all seem incredibly easy to me.
I know how you feel with this. I can go through the game much faster now although I got hung up on that jumping part toward the end (where you had to jump waaaaay up high). I'm just not that good at action moves like that really so it's hard for me. >.>
