Well, now you understand a major gripe of Oblivion, from Morrowind. (aside from the health potion thing, mostly the less stuff) I do not hate the game like many of you seem to though, but I do feel the first was superior to 2. The biggest improvement though is just being able to play as a girl.

I got Fable 2 on sale for 45 bucks. It was really fun and addicting at first, but the story line was too short, and was very repetitive. I sold it after a month just because I lost interest in it. I still have the first Fable though! :)
Fable II is not one thing. Repetitive.
I have rarely seen a game that has as many things to do in it. You can play for 5 hours without unsheathing your sword, there are tons of cool features. The story line is short, but I still managed to play for 60 hours before I went on the Hero of Might quest.
By that time, I had already bought all that was for sale at that time in Bowerstone.

There are tons of flaws in Fable II, (for many of which I agree with OP) but it sure as hell is not repetitive.
Yes, not enough weapons, not enough skills, spells, not enough moves (I hold the one button fighting responsible for that).
Yes, it is bad Peter, the contextual moves were really making me angry whenever I would perform one, because I didn't ask for it and because that kick on the foot was really not helpful.

Don't get me started on the collisions either. And what's up with stopping the player when running against a wall? What kind of visual feeback for player input is that?
There should be a TRC for that!
Actually, it is quite repetetive. All you have to do is play until you complete the story. Then, like you said, you just buy out all that is for sale in Bowerstone. After that, all you can do is play little family type Sim games with the villagers and run around making more money that you don't need to buy weapons that aren't as good as what you have. You don't give any examples stating how Fable 2 in not repetitive either. I enjoyed the game for the month that I played it, but it just got boring because it felt like I wasn't accomplishing anything new or worthwhile.

for me, the fact that you cant die removed all danger from the world. and also all the new(ish) stuff (have a family, castle, mayor ect) was pretty damn pointless.

Fable 2 rocked pretty hard. Sure I had issues with all of the above mentioned things...some of them anyway...but I got over it. The one thing that DOES make no sense is why in the 500 or whatever years between games. People stopped using greatswords. I mean sure, Axes, hammers, maces, ok...No damn swords? Was Dante gonna be that someone else was using big weapons and guns? On that note...Where's my Berserk spell too? LOVED that one. "GRRRAWWWRR!!" *pwned room*

But then again...if they did everything right, people like us couldn't sit and complain about it.

i HATED the ending.

i was all like "oh whoa my dogs dead. and now hes giving a speech" i thought that like..this was the middle of the game and he was gonna disapear and then i'd go back to questing and what not...only to face him again as some giant monster.

NOPE. instead i hit a. he dies and falls to his death. GAME OVER.

wtf was that. seriously.

fable 2 was one of the most half assed games ive ever played

Press A to win... sums it up rly... I was more then disappointed, I thought it was some sort of sick joke. Like the credits would end and some guy would show up and say "Just kidding, we wouldn't fuck things up this badly. here's 10hrs more of quests."

The only good thing I found the game did was make me love my dog. After being that disappointed with the stupid game I HAD to pick the middle option to bring him back to life because I knew I would never play again.

Oh, and can we all agree that "Hammar" should die? The best part of the whole game was wiping out her home town.

Too true. The story was one of the weakest I've seen in an RPG, let alone an RPG named after a type of story.

Yeah, Fable 2 was a let down. The main quest was to short and they did remove a lot of material. I missed Multi-Shot since I always enjoying playing though the game with Skill only. But ultimately I preferred Fable 1. They're already releasing new content on Xbox Live so that's nice, but the main quest is still suffering from the problem of being short, and forgettable.

The Armor choices were terrible you either looked like a Matrix Reject or a Homicidal Duke/Duchess. Since those were the only clothes that I even considered using.

Overall for a game with a lot of choices, they gave you no choices.

The difficulty of this game is laughable, you fight the same damned enemies with slightly more health as you progress. If you were melee hero you just mashed B over and over (I think that was the attack button) and you hold it down every few minutes when the enemies spiced things up and blocked. If you were a magic user you could just spam lightning and you win. Every time. Being a gunman was the only way to even have a small amount of fun. But again, once you get the sub-target ability, all you have to do is head shot everyone.

The storyline is weak, at best. None of the characters had any real depth, save MAYBE Reaver with his back story. The ending, as everyone else said, was crap. The lack of a final boss was pathetic. Especially since they included such a weak final boss in the first game.

The absence of ANY bosses at all. Unless you count the Trolls (which I don't). Seriously, they didn't even try here. Anyone with a name was just a beefed up normal enemy, with slightly more health and maybe stronger attacks. As if any of them were challenging enough to hit you anyway.

The biggest disappointment for me was the lack of armor, since I normally play a melee class when given the choice. In the original I believe they had only two sets of real armor, one good and one evil. I figured since they had such big plans for this game they would atleast give me some choice when I decked out my warrior. But no, when facing horde of enemies with various pointy weapons, I get to wear a fancy shirt.

Thank you, Lionhead, for turning such a great idea into a steaming pile of excrement.

Well, you just gave the examples for me on why it is NOT repetitive.
Basically, I meant a great variety of gameplays. Action adventure, social Sims style, Market simulator (buying houses, raising goods values, modifying economies, buying lower to sell higher and such, gambling (casino games), character customization.
I'm not saying those things aren't fun and bring variety, but they only do it for so long. How long is it fun until you keep going back to the same villagers, doing the same emotions, and getting the same results until it gets repetitive for you? All you have to do to make money is buy the shops which generate their own money which is rather easy to do. Casino games are fun for a while as well, but once you accumulate a huge sum of money that you don't need to spend, what is the point? And for character customization, you said it yourself that there are not enough weapons, spells, skills and moves.

It could use more content, was too easy and it really needed a minimap.

Other than that I had no problems with it easily the best game of 2008.

This was a disappointment to me as well. Who's idea was it to make you fight the same boss a dozen times? That's not fun or creative. It's just lazy.
