Considering we have had a lot of talk recently about favorite games and movies, I thought it was due time that we on the Escapist named our favorite Tv Show/s of the past year. I'm sure all of you out there have some shows you thought didn't get the praise they deserved, while many of you may feel like the bandwagon is not quite full enough, but here I would like to hear what you all thought and in the process uncover some previous gems I might have overlooked. My favorite show of last year was without a doubt Game of Thrones, which in my opinion stood head and shoulders above the competitors. So Escapists what was your favorite show/s of last year?

They do not have to be new shows, if you personally thought that something really hit its stride last year that is also acceptable.

My Little Sister Can`t Be This Cute, funny, well-animated, great characters and a strong story. What? Anime are TV shows too! ;)

Misfits followed by Breaking Bad and Doctor Who in close second.
In terms of new show it would have to American Horror Story.

The Wire. It's my show of the year EVERY year.

Seriously though, I'll have to go with Mad Men, with an HM for Community. With the caveat that I haven't seen Breaking Bad.

Worst show of the year that I actually watched...that'd have to go to Walking Dead. They should changed the name to Squandered Potential.

I really enjoyed Dexter Season 6, so I'll be tuning in to Season 7 as soon as it's broadcast.

I also enjoyed Misfits, whose Nazi episode beat the Let's Kill Hitler episode of Dr Who hands down.

Can we count animes? If we can then Usagi Drop, sweet, thoughtful and features the most adorable little girl ever.

If not then It's always Sunny in Philadelphia becasue I don't watch that much new TV outside of anime and this is the closest I got.

I think it was probably a toss-up between Game of Thrones and Sherlock. Both were really well produced, mostly well cast (Moriarty and Jon Snow notwithstanding) and were really enjoyable to watch. I guess Game of Thrones has the advantage of a better score and a kickass title sequence, but yeah, both of them were awesome.

Oddly, I enjoyed the bonus episodes more than the main series... mainly because of Akagi Sena... -_-

Still, thinking about anime, my show of last year would be...Hourou Musuko, primarily for being too intelligent for its own good...

As for live-action TV...

That... BTW what did you find wrong with Moriarty? I found him oddly refreshing a take on the old nemesis...

Suits . It's a neat lawyer drama with a much more easy-going attitude than most shows that deal with difficult moral issues (cheating to get ahead, manipulation of the law), and has some good relationships developing. Hopefully it gets a second season.

And yes, Game of Thrones was good; it was just weird to see that they aged all the younger people by about 5 years.

Game of Thrones for sure. I had been following the production since late 2009 and had been really looking forward to the show, it didn't disappoint.

Sherlock, without a doubt. It's simply awesome. Fast-paced, mind-teasing, well-acted fun.

Black Mirror, by far.

If the second episode had been extended into a film, it would have been in my top 5 awesome tag team of movies. Seriously, it blew my mind, I can't stress that enough.

You should all watch it. Do it now.
