A full suit of Gothic medieval plate armor. Zombies? What Zombies? I'd like to see them try and chew through solid steel.
screw the steel, just hard plastic that stuff so you don't have to carry all that weight around. I don't think human zombie teeth can get through hard plastic. Though you will still have various weak points however. (Joints like arm pits, knees etc)

My crossbow. Good ranged weapon with reusable ammunition.

Also, silent, as to not attract more zombies.

Old armor could be used in a closed place with no guns and small limited number of zombies. Not the best thing to carry aroud outside. + People were shorter and stronger hundrets of years ago. Unless youre an athleet you wont get too far with that and one other thing medival armor is a hell to wear during hot summer and probably even worse at winter.

If I'm allowed one melee weapon I'm going with a claymore. As for guns, I'd like to have two m1911 .45 pistols (with hollow point rounds). screw yer katanas :p

Being in the UK, I have no gun, but I do have a crowbar, a sledgehammer, a hatchet, a fencing pole, & several other manly melee weapons. Ideally, I'd just get a Neptunic sharksuit, & be pretty much invincible.

Seeing as my father is a Republican in America, we have a lot of guns here (it's awesome).
I think I'll be set. Plus I have a crappy hunting knife and other point objects if worse comes to worse.

Time? Without an immune system, zombies would rot and get eaten by insects to the point where they couldn't move in a manner of days in most of the world. Barricade yourself in an apartment building or other tall structure (with food/water stockpiles of course) and wait a month. You'll be fine.
Would you be ready to stake your life on it? What if your wrong and every hour its getting harder and harder to get out?
Well, it would depend on the type of zombie we're talking about. Slow Romero zombies, I would go with the above plan. If they rot, they don't have an immune system and they can't repel they're own bacteria as well as the insect that will feast on the tasty mass of rotting flesh. If they're Dawn of the Dead reboot, run-you-down-without-ever-tiring kind of zombie, I would aim for the above plan but wouldn't expect to pull it off just because I probably won't make it indoors with supplies before getting chomped. The plan is solid, you just have to pull it off, which may not be easy.

Now, if we're using Hollywood logic, zombies somehow stay animated and only partially decayed for months (or even years) on end. Then, well, then I hoping genre savvy will save me ;P

Lets take this in an other direction. Why is it that soo many ppl are thinking about ZA? Its not about shooting zombies it about who you are, who you could be. Its about building society by your own rules. Mmmm all the girls I could save ohh how gratefull they would be. Its about walking on the street and looking at some people that are on an other level than you and thinking that in some place in some other dimension it would be otherwise.

Soo do you have someone that you would got to save no matter what during the apocalypse? Maybe someone you didnt previously know? Mayby someone you hadnt have a chance with before?

My imagenary plan if EVERYTHING mysticaly goes how I would like is to save all the girls I ever wanted something with. Go to an island with its own sourse of electricity than form a harem and play xbox360 for the rest of my life.

Sorry for posting this twise but I need an answer. Please am I alone on this one?

Logic.

"Um... listen, I know you're proud of coming back from the dead and all, but you're a physical impossibility. How can an already decaying corpse actually have the strength to move without falling to pieces? Please, go bother someone else. Thank you."
You would be like in that movie MIST. People who believe in flat world. I dont believe in paranormal things, but if I see sth than its too late not to believe.
Um... hi. Ever here of this little thing called "humor" that involves these wonderful collection of words called "jokes"?

That thing I posted was one.

No moron in their wrong mind would talk to a zombie, IF they were real. So I'd appreciate it if you didn't talk to me as if I was worse than a moron and "believed in flat world".

Thanks.

Does this need to be with in reason? If not then;
Crossbow - Silent,Light and has reusable ammo
P-90 - Large magazine, easy to shoot and light weight
Hatchet - useful for setting up a camp, also close combat
First Aid Kit

Hustle up 299 mates, kit each of us out with an aspis with a lambda on it, xyston, xiphos (or kopis, though I'd prefer a falcata), Corinthian helmet and panoply. Glorious last stand time.
This is definitely the best zombie plan I've ever seen. I might have to imitate it. I also completely agree with using a falcata over a xiphos.

Presuming they are the slow shambling zombies, and not the super fast & agile mutant zombies, I base my plan thus:

The best armor would be tight clothing, short hair, and maybe some padding around your limbs to prevent teeth puncture-marks. Above all, staying mobile is your best bet. Getting trapped or cornered is a bad move unless you are hidden from the hoard.

For a primary weapon, I'd pick either the M1 or M4 Carbine. Both very reliable weapons used by the US Military, and they tend to know what's good at killing things and what isn't. The ammo for at least the M4 I think would tend to be plentiful too.

For a back-up weapon, I'd pick some sort of pistol. Probably M1911, but I've never handled one so it's hard to say. Even with that pistol though, I'd only use it as a last resort. Realistically, if you are forced into melee or pistol combat, and there are more than three zombies bearing down on you, you've either failed somehow, or you need to start running.

As for everyone who is suggesting "fire" as a weapon, I have to say this: The only thing worse than something trying to eat you alive, is something trying to eat you alive THAT IS ON FIRE. Seriously, it takes WAY too long to damage a human body enough with fire so that it can no longer move. You should only use it as a tool for disposing of disabled zombies.

Finally, the best weapon is preparation. If this is a zombie apocalypse, you need to have a way to live off the land and continue survive, without raiding for supplies every week. They are going to disappear eventually. Second, you are also going to be competing with other humans to survive. The more remote, isolated place you can get to, the less likely other humans will find/raid your place. You also need to keep a watch on the news for events, indicating when you need to get out and beat the rush.

I'm also surprised that no one has mentioned that one abandoned mining tower in Japan yet. I forget the name, but it's infamously used as fantasy zombie-stronghold.

The Yukon. Screw fighting the zombies, go where there are no people. no people = the perfect weapon. Other than that, I would carry a 12 gauge shotgun with an extended stock.
Smart man. Zombies are not your only enemy after all.

A scoped crowbar, for long range bludgeonings.
I was wondering how long it would be before someone posted that...

With such wieght to carry around, you would be very exhausted trying to get anywhere very fast. The armor would be noisy, and attract alot of attention. Even if the zombies, by some miracle, cannot tear off your armor or eventually wear down the joints, they would tend to swarm and dogpile on top of you. You'd never get out.
