Crossbow, modified to launch rocks ...
hard.
I
know I've got ammunition.
L98A1 in mint condition because they're pretty accurate and reliable and I know what I'm doing with one
and 5.56mm and .223 are going to be all over the place in the USA where these films tend to be set ... and a .22SSS rifle because that stuff's everywhere over here where I tend to be.
Thermal imager and/or image-intensifier on one of those weapons, rechargeable batteries and a solar recharger.
High-capacity 9mm and a Colt 1911 .45
and a .357Mag revolver so I can use 9mm, .45, .375Mag and .38 ammo I find.
This:
... or something very similar, possibly longer.
I'd head for Scilly. The climate's good, the islands are big enough to sustain a small population and any zombie trying to walk there has to contend with a lot of fish.
Now, to go for "badass" ideas: the monofilament whip from
Johnny Mnemonic. That'd work pretty well! Hmm ... infinite grenades mode from HALO Deathmatch and lots of plasma bombs (you really don't want to launch a legless zombie into your own face with a frag bomb, do you?) ... the laser rifles from X-Com: Enemy Unknown because they're powerful enough to take the side off a warehouse and never run out ... original Quake Thunderbolt and quad damage because it wouldn't splorch a zombie without quad damage ... the Bed of Blades, Horizon's Blades and Evisceration spells from Asheron's Call (aim at neck height) and Slithering Flames for extra show ... A full set of 80+ Olthoi Armour dyed black, an Aegis of Golden Flame and a fire axe, hammer, mace, katana or nekode from AC with the minor addition of a clear plastic visor ... or two six-shooters made from the Angel of Death's sword, a wide-brimmed hat, a trenchcoat, a waistcoat, a bootlace tie, knee-high boots with Cuban heels and spurs and a writer with a big thing about Clint Eastwood westerns.
What else? Warthog? Banshee? Hurricane? Sopwith Camel? Challenger II? Merkava? Nah ...
Even zombies would realise they were ****ed.
