Even though Rockstar said they aren't going to do one, GTA would make an awesome gangster drama if put into the right hands. It could be on par with scarface. Especially since they have gotten much better with story over the ages.

Well, I could murmur something with Fable, but that's a movie-ish game with multiple choices.

Maybe Baldur's Gate?

I am very sceptical of games being turned into movies... But if I wanted to see an interessting movies I would say World in Conflict. Not perhaps from the perspective of a soldier fighting on the front but a civilin on the run. That would sure get me stuck in.

a WoW movie would be a great idea
even if it sucked ass, think of how much the movie studio would make from all the fanboys

I'd like to see a movie of half life, GTA(loved that musical tha would be the most awesoem thing ever), Perfect Darkwould again be good if done right, and I haven't played bioshock, but a mute butally beating children for rewards can't be abad thing.

Also if someone could do a non cheesy, non animated FF series that would be good.

They should make a movie of that King Kong game.
That was such an awesome game although I suppose a movie might let it down.

In all seriousness though, I hear they're actually making a Spyro the Dragon movie.
God help us all.

The halouniverse would make a great setting for a movie. They released a sequence before Halo 3 came out, in which some soldiers try to get the data on where master cheif lands. I thought "the way they directed it there, they actually made a very good action scene". If the would make a movie about the covenant wars, where you follow a squad, or a unit, or so in their struggle for survival, i'd be all over it. I doubt anyone's gonna do this though.. If there's gonna be a halo movie, it's gotta be with the chief... unfortunatly

I watched this thing...ages ago on...Youtube, I think, of these marines picking up assault rilfes from Halo and running out to somewhere, and I think it was a sneak peek or something, but I think it was just a hoax or something. A Halo movie'd be interesting though.

The problem is the movie medium and the video game medium are very different. What works well in one might not in the other. Its also worth notign that experienced game desighners may not show the same prowless and expertise in film, hence a game based on a long running franchise does'nt have the potential to be as good as the game.

Really, to make any good adaptation you'd need someone who understands the strengths and weaknesses of both mediums, and that kind of mastery is hard to come by

Actually I'd heard that the chief will only have a brief appearance in the movie and it will mostly follow a squad like you said. Don't know how true this is though. I also think the BioShock movie should be pretty awesome but who knows how many of these movies will actually ever get made. Are they trying to making a Gears of War movie too? I remember hearing it somewhere.

If its the PC game your talking about, then I couldnt possibly disagree more than I am right now and convey how wrong that would be. One of the amazing things about that game was the ability to craft your own character and then make that story your own. What do you suppose happens when a movie cannot possibly achieve that, and sticks a shit protagonist and shit decisions in its place? Well, judging from the novelisation, an absolutely fucking travesty that doesnt even deserve to share the same name as the PC game, thats what. Games like Baldurs Gate just dont work outside of games, thats all there is to it.

Mass Effect or Assassin's Creed.
Period.
Assassins Creed would work perhaps, but Mass Effect?

No way, see the exact same reasons above.

Totally. Would. Not. Work. Period.

Now what do I think would be a good movie adaptation? Simple: The game that was never made.

Seriously though, I would have said Max Payne or some similar sort of game. Basically one so rooted in movie styling anyway it at least wouldnt be a total fuck up. I mean seriously, that plotline for the first game just seems like its taken right out of a standard cop/action movie. From what I hear though, the movie adaptation doesnt stick to it.

Ahh, what the hell. I just rather people play the fuckin games/read the books/look at the comic books etc. Why is so important that great things be turned into movies? Movies arent always that special. Is Hollywood seriously that far up its own arse?

Technically, Kane & Lynch should've been a movie in the first place. Really liked that game's plot. Actually...I think someone already bought the movie rights.
Old, a criminal movie about 2 partners in crime doing stuff is just so damn old, anything containing 2 partners and crime is already worn out, Thelma and Louise, Bonny and Clyde, Starsky and Hutch etc..

What would make a great movie is the background story for Warhammer: Fantasy Battles, i know alot of people arent aware of it, but seeing as Games Workshop has had 25 years to perfect their story and character design in arts etc.. it would be the perfect movie, much better then a WoW movie as someone previously suggested, seeing as Warhammer > Warcraft, and this i say as a big Warhammer fan, and a WoW addict.

Warhammer 40k, (CGI or not it would be awesome, and yes it would have an actual story, just because it's a war movie doesn't mean it won't have character development, etc. etc. - it was pulled off in the games, so it could be done for the movies too - sorry but I keep hearing people say "character development be damned!" just because it's a damn war movie)
The best way to do a warhammer 40k movie would be something set in the Horus Heresy era. The emperor and the primarchs would make excellant main characters in a film.

I think portal could be made into something, maybe a half-hour thing. Featuring nothing but GLaDOS' voice and portal blurps for sounds, and having the visual motif of being constantly in motion, vis a vis the camera never stops moving. Ever.

Viewtiful Joe. It's set in movieland, it can't be that hard to do...

One of the Devil May Cry games. Get the right director and producer, and more importantly, the choreographer who worked on the games, and it would be great, if a bit of a brainless action gorefest.

I've got one for a game-to-TV-show: Freelancer. The mission structure of the game allows simple missions to be filler episodes and the story to be the plot of the show.

Movies though? Call of Duty 4 or F.E.A.R could be done well in the proper hands, Halo if Hollywood stopped being a *****, Viewtiful Joe if the main actor could act, and any Blizzard game involving the word '-craft' or 'Diablo'.
