No More Heroes. Every single cutscene in that game is hysterical, every single action scene is chocked full of cartoony violence and a movie adaptation of it would be a hell of a ride.

I reckon Half-Life would make for a really awesome sci-fi//action kinda movie, as long as they kept the crowbar as one of the main weapons that he uses (i'm remembering some awesome bludgeoining scenes in 'Apocalypto' with heavy objects haha).

Also i reckon 'Grim Fandango' would make for a very stylish CGI movie, would it not?

The halouniverse would make a great setting for a movie. They released a sequence before Halo 3 came out, in which some soldiers try to get the data on where master cheif lands. I thought "the way they directed it there, they actually made a very good action scene". If the would make a movie about the covenant wars, where you follow a squad, or a unit, or so in their struggle for survival, i'd be all over it. I doubt anyone's gonna do this though.. If there's gonna be a halo movie, it's gotta be with the chief... unfortunatly
I watched this thing...ages ago on...Youtube, I think, of these marines picking up assault rilfes from Halo and running out to somewhere, and I think it was a sneak peek or something, but I think it was just a hoax or something. A Halo movie'd be interesting though.
It was a series of videos directed by the guy who was supposed to direct the Halo movie and they were made as part of the advertising campaign.

I think Half-Life would make a good movie. It would be amazing if they managed to pull it off without giving Gordon's actor any dialog at all.

chris tucker as g man.

i think a max payne movie could be potentially awesome.

metal gear solid movie will most likely be crap because a) the plot is so complex that it would have to be copied pretty much word for word to make sense and b) there is far too much plot in each game to condense into even a three hour long movie
One word.

Sequals.

"IF there's a Halo movie"...I think there will be one, but my real biff will be the differentiation (did I spell that right?) between game, movie and books (YES, THERE WERE BOOKS!) I read the books, and THEN played the games, and the story in the games was skewed and skewed and then skewed some more away from the books. If there's a movie, who knows that it won't be in a completely different place? Master Chief is John, Spartan 117, but no, there were not 100-something other Spartans (who survived the genetic process and training to become a Spartan). I would also like to know: is he the main character in the movie, as in the games? Just wondering because posts here are indicating otherwise. Sidenote: this is my first post! Congratulate me or die.

When i heard frome a friend that a Halo movie was to be made, i almost cried. That would be the equivalent of any movie directed by uwe boll. But when i heard that an extremely unconfirmed Metal Gear Solid movie was to be made, i had the same reaction.

Only this time it was out of joy.
Seeing as how i absolutley love Metal Gear Solid's story line, it made my year.
Then i found out there probably isn't going to be one, it made me very angry.

So what games do you gamers think would make the best movie adaption?

Just buy MGS4, the 90 minute cut scenes should be plenty.
Christ are you the only one that didnt discover that it was a false rumor? All the cut scenes in the game add up to 90 minnutes. The poster mis-read the original article.

Team Fortress 2...YOU ALL KNOW I'M RITE

I'd be like a documentary "life in the fort" or something like that, just imagine the "meet the ___" video but all rolled into one and covered with Awesomesauce and Lolersyrup

GTA, Directed by Quintin Tarantino, Staring Vinnie Jones (and probably Tarantino somewhere).
OK that's basically pulp fiction, but in order to cover a story with the kind of arc GTA has, it would take a trilogy of 2 1/2 hour moves, pure epic debauchery...
too good to ever be made....
I'd just like to say that is a fucking great idea because even though Tarantino is famous for his "violence" and controversial stuff - Dialogue is his strongest point, so I think giving him GTA to work with is a fantastic idea.

(If anyone disagree's with me, I'd just like to forewarn you that I'm a tarantino fanboy :p )

Call of Duty 4 hands down for me. Loved the story. Although they would have to add a lot of stuff to it to make it last longer than an hour and a half. :)
Tom Clancy 2.0?

Tarantino should definately not make a GTA movie, but if they get him to produce the next game! That would be friggin awesome.

Kane and Lynch or Uncharted: Drake's Fortune would be the best since the ground work is pretty much there.

A Bioshock Prequel Film, set before the game, focusing on a Private Eye in Rapture just as the whole place is starting to collapse into madness and death. Possibly going against Fontaine or something, maybe even investigating the death of a certain poor actress. Give it some heavy noir mood, mixed with the ambient strangeness and scenery of rapture, mix in some plasmid crazy splicers and bam, winning formula. You could throw in plenty of In Jokes for people who have played the games too, like people making their recordings and other such oddities. Bioshock is perfect for movie treatment because so much of the story and world development is ambient, and could be well conveyed in a cinematic format, mostly with grafitti, some monologues etc. Hell, I'd even open it with the video you see in the Bathysphere and then pan out to our grizzled, dissillusioned private eye on the streets of Rapture, who then launches into an internal monologue about the decay and death of Ryan's dream. Lastly, Bioshock would bring something interesting to the screen and could present a unique setting that hasn't been seen on film yet and the story potential before the fall of rapture is endless. If I were writing it the thing would probably be sort of like Blade Runner in style and a lot like China Town in story.

Though Prince of Persia, if done right, would be an excellent film trilogy, just tone down the "angry generic rage" of Warrior Within and you still have a pretty good plot. I am not very confident of Jake Gyllenhal (despite really liking his work)being cast as the prince though. We'll see how that turns out.

Starcraft, most defiantely.
I could see that, but you'd have to make it different than Starship Troopers and Aliens. I would focus on it as an Epic Military Space-Opera. A good treatment may be where you have the Humans fighting the Zerg as the primary conflict and then have them (rather than the Protoss) lose their planet to the Zerg after being betrayed by one of their own (Kerrigan, after being betrayed by the Earth Government and transformed). Then a rag-tag band of heroes led by Jim Rayner track down an ancient race of aliens and form an alliance to wipe out the Zerg and save humanity and the galaxy as a whole. Or something like that, it would have to be a trilogy structured like the Games, First you focus on the humans, then on the Zerg pushback and eventual victory and lastly on the mysterious Alien race (Protoss, duh) and their mission to eradicate the Zerg.

Those are just my thoughts anyway.

A warhammer 40k movie, preferably live action with arnie cast as a space marine commander.

I want to say MGS but it's pretty much a movie anyway...

Some form of half life movie, possibly capuring the 7 hour war, or a sciencetist in Black Mesa, or a Marine squad tracking down Gordon, etc...

I don't think Warhammer 40k would work, it's too dense and there is no clear-cut good and evil, which means it wouldn't get a big budget because it might confuse audiences. There's also too much backstory to convey on film, mostly the reason why the human empire is the way it is. You also could only have 1 or 2 groups of enemies, there are simply too many to fit into a movie, you could NEVER get away with Orks, Tyrannids, Necrons, Dark Eldar, Eldar (since they're oh so anti-human and humans are oh so anti alien), Tau, and the various factions of Chaos. Plus humanity doesn't really get along with any other races so... they can't team up with anyone to fight whatver baddy you settle on. That means that The Space Marines/Imperial Guard would be the good guys and you'd probably only pick one group as the bad guys. The only other way around this would be to deconstruct the Warhammer universe and rebuild it into something unrecognizable.

best video game movie that could be made: Metal Gear Solid 3 with David Hayter voicing snake.

Worse video game movie that could be made: Metal Gear Solid with someone other than David Hayter voicing Snake.

He has perhaps the most distinct voice of any videogame voice actor out there, and by this point, you hear him talk, you pretty much think of him AS Solid Snake

Similar to Bridgetbracer above; Metal Gear Solid with David Hayter as Snake.

I'd like either the first or third game put into a movie, as they are both great stories to play through and have those incredible action scenes; the Shagohod chase scene near the end of SnakeEater, Snake's battle against the Hind using just a Stinger missile etc.

I think also that if Hideo Kojima was heavily involved in the film, it'd remain true to the game and would maintain the style. There doesn't seem to be many details about the upcoming film, other than the fact that David Hayter will not be playing Snake, which is a disappointment.

David Hayter couldn't play Snake in a live action film, every live action role he's had has been terrible. And besides, Metal Gear is best as a game, why make it a movie?
