A small ship would be "A leaf on the wind", you know why.

A mothersip would be "God of Blasphemy", or "USS Purge", or even "Valkyrie", even if it's unimaginative and a clishe.

HMS Indifferent, and her sister ship, HMS Irrelevant.

Here are some important and very boring rules for ship naming, and for the correct referal to ships in literature.
1. Do not use the word "the" before HMS. That is the equivelant of saying "the his magesty's ship..." It is okay to use the with SS, USS etc.
2. Ship names are always in italics, and are the equivalent of real names. For this reason, you should not say "the Enterprise" because that would be like referring to your best mate as "the Edward" instead of just Edward. The SS/USS/HMS abbreviations are not to be put in italics.
3. Ships are all female, and so are never to be referred to as "it". Only "she". This isn't necessarily the case in some other languages however.

The USS Strato Destroyer! And for a less ripped-off name... ehm...

Can I get a lifeline?

And since I've resorted to lazy reference humour I will now have to say that thing I hate. *Sigh* Cookie for the reference.
Spaced! Keep the cookie, though.

USS War Bastard has a nice ring to it...
You wouldn't get one anyway after you ruined me being all nihilistic.

I went with USS Titanic.
Then Titanic II for the next ship.
Because who wouldn't be thrilled to serve on a starship named Titanic IV?

USS Wilde.

I was born down the street from where he lived, so this is kinda a dedication.

The USS OMGSHARKS! Because that was my Shepard's name in Mass Effect and sharks scare me. I mean anything named OMGSHARKS! has to be scary and intimidate the enemy immediately.
If nothing else you'll be parked halfway up there nose before they stop laughing.
Mine preferred name would be R.M.S GiantCuttleFishofDoom as a very subtle nod to the accidentally(?) hilarious villains of Mass Effect. i shall try this game it looks somehow. "interesting"

When I last played FF XII: Revenant Wings, I named the ship 'The Namine', because I really like the character. Likewise, as a nod to that, in Kingdom Hearts 2 I named my Gummi Ship 'The Penelo'.

Otheriwse, I'll give my ship a name after female names that I really like, such as 'The Niamh', 'The Violet', and so on. I subscribe to the idea that a ship is always female, even starships, as a nod to the old maritime tradition. And I really like those names in general ).
