...I feel like this thread was founded on the assumption that Brink is a super-hyped game, which isn't true at all. For hardcore gamers like those on The Escapist, it's more anticipated than others, but by no means does it match the hype for games like The Old Republic or Portal 2.

But if it sucked, I just wouldn't buy it. Simple.

I pre-ordered it back in august the day it was available. I would be PISSED if it sucks.
But everything I've seen about it thus far has looked pretty promising. Some of these comments make me sad with people saying they wouldn't care. It looks a fuck of a lot better than any of the most recent CoD games.

EDIT: Reading more of these comments I seeing more people who are shitting on it and probably haven't even looked into it.

Little disapointed at the lack of female avatars

Its disapointing that homefront wasnt that great, I had high hopes for that game

Game doesn't interest me, so I won't be buying it unless it's heralded by amazing reviews.

I like the idea of parkour. I like the idea of FPS. But putting them together and making it good? Lets just say I'm well prepared for the bad news.

Better question, why should I care?

-Highly stylized, colorful graphics
-4 character classes
-dystopian future setting
-FPS with RPG elements
-online co-op

sounds an awful lot like a really good game that's already out...
Not even close, like not even a little bit.

Borderlands isnt dystopian, its a wasteland, Brink has more then 4 characters classes, it isnt a FPS with RPG elements and it isnt an open world game.

Borderlands can be compared with Fallout 3 and Rage, Brink can be compared with TF2 and Monday Night Combat, although picking some stuff from other games like the parkour from Mirrors Edge.

Brink has a lot of positive hype going for it and will likely sell huge at this rate.

Though personally, nothing I've casually seen has me interested at this time. I'll keep an eye on the game, but I doubt I'd pre-order it or pick it up on day one. So...if the game sucked...I simply wouldn't buy it after a price drop/used.

Also, I don't feel games this year have under performed...but that's just my opinion. I love Dragon Age 2 despite it being worse than the original and Crysis 2 seems to have generally positive reviews.

I'm not gonna buy it so... nothing.
This sums it up.

I thought it looked pretty awesome then I found out it was a first person shooter. Lost pretty much all interest.

Probably keep playing it like Vanquish so I can suffer with the few friends that bought it with me. I'm not easily disappointed, so I'll probably enjoy it unless it turns out to be a Borderlands-esque string of fetch-and-kill, level grinding quests. Not to say that Borderlands is bad, but it gets repetitive really quick and none of my friends owned it, so I ended up playing it solo. Bad idea.
