What would you do if you woke up and half of the worlds Population had superpowers, and you didn't?

I'd be incredibly, incredibly bitter. Being honest I'd probably sulk for a while or try to convince myself I actually managed to get some sort of power.

A series of wars would probably break out due to power-hungry mutants and extremely jealous and threatened humans.

i would try and find one that would grant me powers, or offer myself up as a test subject for DNA manipulation....if im feeling really lucky, roll around in some toxic waste

failing that i would work as a henchman for a rich one, maybe a security guard or somesort

Everyone knows if you're friends with a hero and awesome enough, you'll get supower powers later, and it'll go much better for you then your friend. So I'll just wait and then become a superhero

Mmmm there is a lot for me say about this-

First thing, there will be a lot of comic fans rejoice (who have superpower) and resent (who didn't get or got lame a superpower) by this.

How I feel about having no superpowers? It would depend. I would envy for the ones who did get cool powers or I would be grateful for not having it when I have seen those who had dangerous powers (e.g. someone uncontrollably emits radiation killing anyone near him/her). Regardless however I would be mostly be gutted for not having superpowers (even to those who have lame or dangerous powers).

As for how the world reacts to this? I think it would be like the X-men in that the non powers will discriminate and the powers would feel superior. I would also think it may end up like the Marvel story "Civil War" in that the government want to control the superpowers but this will depend how many government members have superpowers.

I'd devote myself full-time to a Ph.D. in Physics, so I can figure out all the new laws of science that we'll need now that superhero science is "real". Once you throw conservation of mass/energy out the window, anything is possible!

Oooh, that makes me think of an even better idea! Set up an "superpower" consulting firm to advise the superheros on new and astounding ways to use their powers since all the current laws of science would still be in effect.
