Step 1: Buy Microsoft

Step 2: Change strategy to "Virtual Reality go-go"

Step 3: Wait 10 years until they have the technology down.

Step 4: Matrix.

So long as its mine permanently and you wont want the rest back some day im giving it all away to good causes. If I have not earned large sums of money such as that then I have no right to spend it upon myself plus it would make my own drives in life pointless.

7 Billion huh? .. that would probably be just enough to sue Electronic Arts out of existence... Now there is a thought. Using their own tactics against them.

I'd buy as much media as I could, get as much crap off the air as possible and subtly influence the minds of billions.
Gina Rhinehart's doing it, why can't I?

Well, given that I would only need a few million to live comfortably for the rest of my life without ever having to work, and probably having some left over to leave to my loved ones... I'd probably wind up investing a lot of that money into worthwhile projects to clean up seafront landscapes, and start revitalizing a number of neighborhoods that I think need attention.

As odd as it might sound given my right wing leanings, I do believe in charity, I just don't believe it should be mandatory. If I had THAT much money, WTF am I going to do with it is a good question.

Oh and perhaps most importantly, I'd probably put a couple of million away to gather interest and have myself cryogenically frozen, either before or after death, to be brought back when they could clone me a healthy body devoid of things like brain damage.

Investing in the space program might also be an option, since I do believe that way lies the future of humanity, but a lot would depend on who was in charge because with our leadership not taking it seriously I'd be concerned any money I donated would be siphoned for other causes.

The Ultimate Rainy Day Fund

I can think of several things I would do with it. Firstly there are several people I used to work with who are not in a good way financially and I would help them out in such a way that they wouldn't ever struggle again. Then there are some friends and family who I would also do the same for.
I think i should be able to find a way to push a million each of their ways, but set up into an untouchable account that just pays them the interest. They can't squander it but they will not struggle for the rest of their days. Anything they don't spend gets funneled back in at month end to increase the starting fund. It might not sound like a lot but its better than nothing.

Then ? I'd just disappear where ever I wanted to go.

First give 1 billion to my family so they can be comfortable.

Pay off all University bills.

Buy a fuckload of rare and expensive guitars.

Buy a truck and rig it with 50 marshall stacks and destroy the hearing of everyone in my town.

Buy all the old consoles, N64, PS2 etc etc.

Pay to build a house somewhere awesome.

Live in comfort and luxury until I die.

Anything left over when I die is split between my heirs and charity.

what this topic taught me is... people are unimaginative.
1. retire.
2. invest into artificial limbs.
3. reach immortality.
4. smake sure fox stop canceling good tv shows. Oh wait, that one would need 7 trillion isntead. damn.

Go on several trips that I've planned, buy my mother a new house and car, buy myself a car, treat my little brother to something and the rest would go away for the future or anything else I'd want. Some clothes would be nice seeing as I have probably one pair of pants at the minute.
There's not a lot I really want to be honest.

Get a <url=http://www.ussubmarines.com/submarines/phoenix_1000.php3>personal submarine, a bunch of mercenaries and illegal weaponry.
How could anyone with that amount of money not become a super villain!
submarine! your thinking two small, I shall show how a real super villain operates

obviously its going to need a few doomsday devices and really inept guards and a really inefficiently way of killing prisoners that gives a protagonist enough time to escape and speakers that play this whenever I'm in the mood.
Well, it's nice as a base, I give you that. But on the other hand I'm not sure how fast you can move that around because there's no way my doomsday machine will stay safe if I'm on a big floating thing in the middle of the ocean, especially one that lacks the only thing that made Stromberg's hideout acceptable: the ability to go under water.

I'll stay with my fast private luxury submarine, thank you.
Too many Bond villains were defeated because they opted for stationary bases or enormous water vehicles.

I would drop the entire thing like a bomb on the game industry. I would be the single most important person in games since Miyamoto. I would found an amazing studio and start churning out damn good games and I'd act as a free publishing firm for independent studios and a nice publisher for bigger studios looking to put out games. If it's new, if it looks/sounds good, if I think the guys behind it might have something on their hands, they get the money. If they need under a million, consider it a gift. More than that, I'll ask for a cut of profits. Nothing major. Just enough that we're not doling out 20 million for nothing over and over. Of course we'd also provide valuable resources for indie studios and help newcomers onto their feet with the hopes that they might be self-sustaining after their time with us.

Also, I'd build a 20-foot tall "fursuit" mobile bipedal mech. It would be destructively awesome.
Fursuits are creepy. Robots are awesome.

5 Billion would go to charity. 1 Billion would go to a remake and expansion of FF IX. More than enough money left for a beyond luxurious life for me and my whole family.

I'm going to pretend you said "7 Billion pounds" because it's worth more.

Pay people £500 million to make me star in the latest blockbuster film with me as the lead role. And that will be all.

Buy the stuff I want, a few houses, probably even some sort of a castle.

Fund some morally and ethically questionable researches that would ultimatelly make the world a better place.

Reward those who stood by me in shitty times, exact horrible vengeance upon those who caused said shitty times.

The rest of my time would most likely be spent by seeking various forms of entertainment.

My point is: if you play your cards right and are a bit careful, the most important thing money can get you is freedom. You can do pretty much anything you please and get away with it. That's ultimately what I'm after.
